forget drilling mate. Stick it on with some TIGERSEAL. Means you dont have to worry about cracking the glass.

    are you putting a mk1 spoiler or a mk2?

I put a mk1 spoiler on my mk2 and tryed using tiger seal to glue it stright to the body and after standing holding it for about 3 hours I thought it would have stuck but when I came back out to check on it, it was on the floor

so I drilled holes into the roof where the spoiler sits and drilled through near where the rubber seals are. and then screwed the spoiler on aswell as tiger sealed it. then covered the drill holes inside the boot with grommets.

that done the job and held it with a perfect fit on the body. hope this helps if it is that spoiler you are wanting to fit
