searched on here but didnt bring anything up, looking to drop a 1.1 gearbox in my mk2 vtr, wondered what sort of top end id be able to run using this? and if there is much difference in acceleration?

#2im pretty sure you will burn it out, but im not sure can some1 confirm this?
-
#3i've heard of folk running 1.1 boxes in the vtrs to make them much faster up through the gears but the top end suffers badly and if i'm not mistaken you'll prob be doin bout 90 at 6000 revs. acceleration great top-end poor, thats the sacrificeQuote:searched on here but didnt bring anything up, looking to drop a 1.1 gearbox in my mk2 vtr, wondered what sort of top end id be able to run using this? and if there is much difference in acceleration?

#4if you need one i know of one going dirt cheap

#51.1 box = crap. I cant be arsed to explain why fully.
But id personally not be using non sports geaboxes. -
#6what about the 1.4gearboxs they shorter as the vtr are pritty long
-
#8right so vts box would make an improvment in accleration without macking top end realy sh*t
-
#9any change to box for better acceleration will roger the top end.
its the way the boxes are. -
#10Ive got a 1.4 xsi box on a vtr at the minute, much improved acceleration tops out at 118mph on the ring !
Very easy to live with day to day but maybe the rev drops arent sufficient to get the best out of engine in terms of where the power/pull lies in the range. Still quicker than it was though -
#11i have a 1.1 gear box in min..Quote:searched on here but didnt bring anything up, looking to drop a 1.1 gearbox in my mk2 vtr, wondered what sort of top end id be able to run using this? and if there is much difference in acceleration?
does about
28 in 1st
55 in 2nd
78 in 3rd
105 in 4rd
125 in 5th
on a motor way at 70 you doing about 3600 revs,
acceleration isz quite alot better aswell.. -
#12Like toms_vtr said, it's about 3500/3600 at 70. 5th gear is roughly double the speed to what the revs display
eg 2000rpm = 40mph
3000rpm = 60mph
ish...
