im pretty sure on a vtr you will need an adjustable pulley to go with your cam and as said a good map, as for which is the best i would say they are all pretty much the same maybe slight differences but just guessing i wouldnt say much,

you do NEED a aftermarket pully for the 8v camshaft with non OE cams.

Catcam/newmans/piper/kent all do good camshafts, depends on the spec of the shaft etc..

yeah ive been told id need an adjustable pulley.....i called a kent cam dealer....problem is im am still unsure if my engine is rollor or non roller....the guy who i spoke to adv i need the rollor type coz i said my rocker cover is silver....i have later found out that they did a silver top 90bhp in the later mk1s so id think id need the blacktop (non rolor type)but still completly unsure....can anyone put me out of my misery???

Don't understand all this 'you NEED a pulley' business. I timed the PH3 up to standard timing marks [as they are DESIGNED to use], and got 124bhp out of my mk2 vtr engine. I severely doubt if much more can be had out of that cam with standard throttle body and inlet!
