What ECU do I have or why is it gay?

   Right, bought a 106 gti and it has a single plug ecu, R reg.
   
   I was told it was a new ecu and says remanufactured on the top. The rev limiter is set at 6250 which I swear this is for vtrs and vts/gti should go to 7250 or something, any light on this would be appreciated. Is there a difference between older and newer ecus or something?
   
   I just question the ecu as I have put a new engine in that was running spot on but since it's been in my car runs like a bag of shit, runs rich, cuts out, alsorts. I've changed lots of sensors and the only thing i'm left with thinking is whether the ecu is dodgey...

   when you replaced the engine did you get the ecu unlocked?

   Bet its a 1.4 ecu or something. Does it say 1ap.41 on the top?

   It's unlocked anyway with it being remanufactured but thats not the problem
   
   
   I'll have a look for some codes on the top, see what it says. Looks the same size as a vts/gti one but aye, whatever, i'll have a look.

   Yeah, there are a few ecus. Identical in looks.. different map inside

   Yes, its not a 16v ecu. its a 1.4MPI one.

   does the 1.4 mpi ecu look like the one in ur picture? cause my furio has that ecu n im not sure wether its right or not cause it runs rich.

   yes it does. The code on the top should be 1ap.40 or 1ap.81 there were bosch ecus too I think.. not sure, i dont deal with them much.

    Do you know why it mite be running rich? Would the lambda sensor be knackered or maybe the engine temp sensor?

    iirc ryan has about 4 16v ecus ready to go mate. He is really reliable I got one of the ecus for my misses vts and it all went fine.
    
    He has a special map for it aswell that he could possibly do you a deal on to

    The ECU is right for mine that very much for your help mate
