What have you made the pods out of mate? Fibreglass or filler? And how thick have you put it on? Are they reasonable smooth already or are they pretty lumpy?
Reason I ask is because 120 grit paper is pretty fine. If its smooth filler, try 80 grit to get shape, then move down to finer grade. If the pods are still pretty uneven and rough, start with 40 grit, then 60 grit, 80 grit etc etc

Started with resin, then resin & fibreglass for 2 layers then ive added filler to round it off and make it smooth. Ive made it pretty thick so i can mold it to a suitable shape.
Thing is i only did 1/3 of one pod and it took me around 20 mins to do, was thinking maybe a Plasterboard rasp to take some of the chunks of filler off then fine rub it down with the power sander. Wanted to know what you guys wouldve done instead of me rushing into it.
Thanks

when you are apllying filler you want to make it a smooth as possible with little ridges. so when it comes to sanding it wont take as long.
start wit 80 grit on a block and when you have the shape move to finer paper
are you covering them or painting them?

As said really when apply filelr try and get it to so you dont have to sand it loads, you will have about 5 - 10 minutes depending on how much hardner or how the weather is
Just keep sanding though mate, it does take ages but its worth it

Yea cheers guys. I used a little too much hardener on the first pod so went off quick time. Gone give it a good sand over today.

if you are leathering them you could cheat a little. Get the pods to a rough shape with 80 grit paper, and them cover them with fabiric or thing sponge and put the leathe rover that. That will, any imperfections will be hidden, and the leather will be soft to the touch

Well after a few good hours i sanded down everything, then refilled the areas that need it! Came out quite good in the end!
Now hopefully they will fit as good when the leather is on. Might just have to put some screws in the back to bring it into position. Other than that im quite chuffed!
