water leak interior light??

  1. #1
when the rain comes heavy slight bits of water come from front of interior light. does it come from aeriasl or sun roof rubber leaking? what needs doing to sort thanks dan
  2. #2
well it most likely your ariel because moving it back and forward for cleaning could have broke the seal around the outside i would take the light out and see if you seal it from the inside.

  7. #7
do you take aerial off from inside or on out side cheers

you take it off from the inside chap. take the interior light out (it just pops out) and have a look up and it will all seem fairly straight forward once you've seen it!

usually taking it off, applying some silicone and sticking it back on helps

mine used to be awful until i did that!
  12. #12
Its prob ariel mines doesnt it
  13. #13
I gave trying to fix it in the end... they're notorious for leaking... deaerial ftw!
  14. #14
Sayer only did it for the increased MPG ... Less drag yO.
  15. #15
Ahh I have this problem, will give silicone a try. Comes as a shock when you turn a corner and a little droplet of water goes past my head

Jst Put A Teeny Weeny Bit Of Clear Silicon Round The Arial Base Cannot Notice it At All,Solved my Problem In Like 3mins

Time to bring this up again. Its better then starting a new thread.

After todays epic down pout the car leaked a few drips. Would it be better to take the areal base off, squirt down some silicone from the roof and put the areal base back on and tighten her up? It would form like a gasket?

And dose this 100% solve this.

And why dose the water leak from the light and not from the over head lining?

got this on both my cars. it was tracing down the thread. the pug i took the aeriel and base off, silicone around the hole from the outside. put it back together. haven't got round to doin the sax yet, just hoping it's not the sunroof.

Haha, I had this too! But just like other's a bit clear silicone done the trick

I just bought a new aerial base of the bay for a couple of quid! Under the base theres two little plastic things which go into two holes in the roof.
Most likely these have broken and the seal has become lose! Just buy a new base

never got round to doing it but touch wood it hasnt happened again lol and had some serious rain too.
  22. #22
mine is leaking alot it has a hole under the arial dont think its meant to be there anyway i tryed to fill it in and snapped my arial off lol so be carefull
  23. #23
mine recently done this and it was where the handle that operates the sunroof was loose and wasnt fully closing the sunroof so the internal light filled up with water.
  24. #24
oh right will check it out next time have a lot of rain and take light etc out and look but been lucky or it has sorted it self lol and not done since first posted
  25. #25
I'm imagining mine will be the aerial then, as my cheapo shitty Saxo doesn't even have a sunroof lol.
    B&Q here I come!

mine used to leak something terrible!! sometimes my passenger footwell would b a small swiming pool where the water had traveled down the a post! after lots of ivestigation an removing the sunroof and head lining i found 1 of my sunroof drains were blocked. i inblocked it an made sure i sealed everything with silicone as i put it back together, i also bought a new ariel base to b safe! not a drop since, solved it evetually!!

Mine was dripping from the sunroof knob thing.. The thing you pull out and twist, so I undid the torx screw that took out the windy part, and was splashed with even more water.. Then i took some sealant and just wacked it in every gap up there I could see tbh. all around the area base and stuff and around the sunroof like part the windy thing latchys onto all around the top of that. Then i then put a bit in the plastic windy bit and then refitted it and put the screw back in Never leaked since

Whee! Clear silicone sealant from B+Q, ripped light out, caked aerial in silicone, smothered aerial around the base on the roof, and now it doesn't leak
I also sealed the hole on my bust lock (thieves...scum...)
