VTR alloy question

  1. #1
I got me a set of Fox alloys a month back and was told they'd fit the saxo (desire), which they kindof did, but the arches rubbed if their was weight in the back so I took them back ... it's gunna be the same with most wheels unless i get my arches rolled.. so im looking at the standard saxo alloys that you can get on the VTRs.. 2 questions - do they fit the 1.1desires, and cos they stock parts, would i not need to tell the insurance company?

right first thing is the reason they rubbed on the rear arch is because there is a lip that sticks out which rubs on the tyres, they dont need to be 'rolled' to fit 195's in them, the lip jsut has to be removed, its around 1-2cm deep. im guessing the profiles were 195's? however you can use vtr alloys without moddifying the rear arch's, with them being abit narrower..... what you need to do is run the tyres that you get for the standard steel wheels on the rear wheels.

the setup im using is standard vtr wheels on my desire, running the normal 185/55 R14's on the 2 front wheels. and on the back im running 165/60 R14's. mine is also lowerd 80mm at the rear and i still get no rubbing. even with a full car.

by doing this you get tyre stretch, although its not a big stretch and its hard to notice unless you look close up, its the tyre stretching that little bit that stops it rubbing on the lip. you wont feel a difference in handleing, infact mine is 200% better than with the standard steel wheels and with the tyre being 165, only 20mm narrower than the recomended tyres they go on easilly jsut like the normal tyre would

doubt insurance would notice it if u dont tell em and if u do, say there standard citroen wheels and it probly wont go up

if your car has 4 studs they will fit
