Throttle bodied 8v?

  1. #1
    Is this possible?

I would of thought so but in doing a search i can only find 16v engines, and 16v kits?

    Anyone wonna shed some light..

    its very possible
have a look on rallye reg as a lot are running tbs on the 8v rallye lump
  3. #3
possible yes, i'f spending that amount of money i'd rather spend the extra couple of hundred and start out with 16v though
  4. #4
been done lots on 8vs aswell.

More 16v kits around as its a better set up

basicully repeat of whats allready been said for the amount of money bodys will cost you, you may as well splash out on the extra 8v's other wise i can garantee you youll regret it in the long run ^^.

So in the long run, it would probably work out cheaper as there would be more second hand 16v kits/parts around?

i'm assuming a standard remap would be the best for this? so at least a piggy back ecu would be needed right? where's the best place to start looking for one of these?

On top of one of the kits from kam racing, what else will i be needing?

    Link

Also what sort of bhp does a lowish spec cammed throttle bodied 16v engine put out?

I'm doing it for the sound not the power though..

you'll need some cams and standalone, chipwizards can apparantly remap the standard ecu but we've yet to see any real evidence to suggest if its any good

and looing at the kit on kam im not sure if that includes an inlet manifold to attach the cams to the head.
have a look on gmc website for the manifold then get looing for some second hand bodies

Will a piggy back ECU not do the job?

The inlet manifold shouldn't be too much of a problem tbh..
  11. #11
You want a decent standalone ecu to run bodies.

You are looking at £1500 really for new prices of bodies/ecu + then mapping.

    You want standalone.

omex are worth a shout for the standalone as well. Come highly recomended.

I don't think the 'chip' method of altering the management is relevant to Citroens.

Vauxhall owner install them because their ECU can not be re-mapped like the the pug/cit ones.

^^^ My reply was suppose to be in the chips thread, sorry.

how do predator compare on over installs like mine for example, never seen them used on bmw's

Only asking as im currently looking what set up to go for and aiming for omex atm, wouldnt mind looking into them.

the pred is a capable unit from what ive seen but so far there arent many about so its not sorted for all applications on the sax iirc

it would need a lot more development to get one on a bmw i think as im unsure as to what other cars they produse for

Predator is designed to be plug and play, as yet andy hasnt done work on the plug end for the BMW.

The thing with any standalone is the system is the same, so Andys shouldnt be different. Drop him a pm as he knows his unit better than anyone.
