I love speedbumps

Strange title but my estate is literally surrounded by speedbumps and Im normally late for work in the mornings so I need a suspension set up that isnt too harsh.

Im currently lowered 50mm on standard shocks. What shocks would be the best for me?
  2. #2
Id buy a better alarm clock tbh.

The best kit is the most you can possibly afford, thats how it works in the suspension world.

    check for kits on www.kamracing.com

The ones at my college are shit. They are literally bumps. More like Everest than a smooth bump. They look like bad boob jobs tbh.

Im lowering the car soon anyway, so Ill be using the staff car park.

They are though, i blame them for the way this country is right now, the inventor needs sectioning, and obviously drives a huge off road vehicle himeself.

    Welcome to Sax-P

tbh, I wouldnt even have bothered lowering if there were speed bumps around me.

Seriously? Surely thats the government winning? The standard shocks lowered 50mm is fine for the bumps, but I want a bit better handling in the corners. The Apex kit harsh? Im getting my strut braces and better tyres first mind. Not going to bother with the bushes
  12. #12
with a lower strut brace on your going to have a bigger problem surely lol

lower strut, with alot of speed bumps and 50mm drop... prepare to scratch the hell out of that as said best is the best you can afford

Yeh I thought that might be a problem, Ill just get the top then. What dampers do you all have?
  15. #15
no speedbump stops my saxo, mines 60mm all around its all about learning how to get over them, i could get my whole saxo up a steep curb that it wouldnt get up head on you have to crab and snake etc and crawl over them.

my xsi was down 90mm on front and there was only a hand full i could not get over but a good set up would be -40mm springs some billes or a full psx spax kit i found my old spax kit was great and for the £30 i payed not bad price to lol

i can go over speedbumps at nearly full speed. the ones where theres like 3 big squares spread across the road i cna go over without even bouncing.
what is it that catches, your centre section?

Dont think theyve invented one capable of the task.

    what about these?

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PAIR-SAXO-BILS...3%3A2|294%3A50

or are these no good. I dont want the ride too harsh.
  22. #22
theyre just standard rate shocks mate.
go for apex or spax if on a budget
  23. #23
"These shocks have the bump and rebound setting increased by 20% on the standard VTS specification making them ideal for use with standard or lowered springs."

Did you read that bit? Thats how I thought they might be good for me as I dont want to increase the rebound to a point where It would become harsh on the speedbumps
  24. #24
I loved my 40mm Spax PSX kit for the money - could get over everything too, even with a lower strut brace.

I'd take it easy over the bumps regardless, otherwise you'll be changing droplinks every other week haha.
  25. #25
I do, but I dont want to have to crawl over in 1st gear all the time.
  26. #26
You just mised a full set of spax -40mm on ebay

how will that help your speedbump problem? lol

if anything its now more likley to catch as the lower brace is close to the ground

braces dont stiffen suspension, they hold the geometry of the car together better
  30. #30
I know I could scrape them. We will see if it does though
  31. #31
the speed bumps in my area have just been uprated i got a bit of a shock the other morning

GAZ coilovers, £425 they handle better and are surprisingly comfortable! Also gives you the option of how much your car is lowered!
