hi all , , im getting tbs and ph3 camms so what kind of ecu or stand alone management should i invest in and will it need to be mapped ???? thanx alot
ecu - standalone

#2hmmmm tricky one i know engine management systems are pretty expensive as far as i know but i would look around for someone who does custom mapping for your car
-
#3youll need a standalone
kms
omex
pred
emerald
ect
they will all need mapping1 user thanked this post: -
#5Have you looked into the predator?
they are at a very good price at the moment,

#6i run a dta stand alone on mine with innovate wideband LC-1
expect to be paying around £1000-£1500 for the ecu, fitting and mapping. -
#7Cant chipwizards now just remap the standar ecu with pretty good results?
Standalone would be better though, jsut food for thought. -
#8yes you can have a standard ecu mapped but never to the same accuracy as a standalone. And it will be running tb's so to get the most out of it you would want a stand alone.

#9My Predator is £495 fitted and mapped, check out my affiliate section for the group buy, and there are also lots of kind words in the feedback section now!!

#11i wouldnt go down the route of a standard ecu with thorttle bodies!!
a standalone ecu will work with the throttle bodies alot better, also it will be more easy to map in the future!!

#13yes live mapping

#14so with ph3s and bodies installed, the predator is installed and mapped for £500?
im seriously looking into bodies now... -
#15Yeah that's right. £495.
I recommend the Innovate LC-1 Wideband controller to go with it, which are around £140 and I can make a mini-PnP loom for that which just plugs into the standard loom connector.
I assume you've got a VTS conversion?
Andy -
#16yer the wideband LC-1 is so so good, it make the whole engine run alot smoother well with the predator too
it runs very smooth indeed was very shock in how smooth is was,
andy -
#17whats this wideband malarky?
yeah ive got a vts conversion -
#18Wideband gives you a more detailed afr reading so allows you to map for a specific fuel ratio rather than just rich or lean of stoichiometric.
The standard KMS one is supposed to be junk. the LC1 is supposed to be good but its expensive. I went cheapo and built my own.

Sensors can be had cheap off various audis in the scrapyard. As long as its got 5 wires (6 in the plug) its a wideband. -
#19£635 is still cheaper than omex or similar and getting that mapped!
need to sort out my wiring first, i might just buy a 3 plug loom -
#20My ECU only does 1-plug's since it's plug and play, so if you're 1-plug, then stay 1-plug if you'reinterested in my ECU

The guy above looks to be using the J.A.W (just another wideband). It's fairly good, although not as good as the innovate, I've got one and I do like it... nothing wrong with it, just got to get the smoothing calculated correctly, the innovate seems to sort that out itself...

#22No - not at all mate, still trying to get the plugs made... and chasing up the people who are currently supposed to be making them!!
It's all very painful!
Andy -
#23ah no! well if you arent getting 3 plug any time soon, see if you can get hold of the different multiplug pinouts for the varios looms. specifically a 200 vts and a 2001 vtr
