argh! help bad noises after 40mm

  1. #1
right i just had my saxo lowered 40mm at the front (torsion to be done soon) but the "mechanic" if you can call him that, noticed wads wrong with my car,(in all respect which he proved) new wheel bearings, new drop links and cant remember what else, so he fitted them as well.

but now the steering wheel is offset slightly to the left, i mean i drive in a straight line, but squint in relation to the steering wheel, im pretty sure this is just the track rods needing aligned, but i also get this GOD aweful noise when braking, just like pad wear (although it could be i seroiusly doubt it). like metal to metal but the car phiscally shakes along with the steering wheel under braking. most noticable when doing high speeds such as 50-70mph.

    its actually scary to drive.
help me please my poor saxo is taking a beating everytime i drive it, and i commute to work.
ps. the mechanic done it as a homer, i understand this was a stupid thing now...dont cheap out.

best bet is take it to someone with a bit more knowledge...

sounds like warped discs to me bud
  4. #4
yeah if its when braking it does it then warped discs sounds about right, although i dont think its something that just happens, you need to be driving pretty hard for that to happen... i could be wrong

my previous discs warped after i had to stand on the brakes on the motorway due to some polish cnut

are you sure its when you brake, when you push the brake pedal you hear this noise?

as when slowing down it could be the gearbox making the noise as when lowering you can sometimes loose some gearbox oil out of one of the driveshafts when taking the struts off, this can cause some sort of grinding/whining noise when slowing down and at crusing speed, if it sounds like this try toping your gearbox oil up.

Pads but in back to front is a good bet. re wheel yes it is tracking imo.

if the cars shaking badly at 50-70mph... more likly to be rear wheels need balencing or bucked... if the rears are unbalenced, you'll feel shakes thro the seat if the front alloys need balencing, the steering wheel will wobble ....

metal to metal noise.. not an over adjusted handbrake shoes so when it heats up the shoes just touch the drum creating mental on metal noise n shaking the car as rear brakes are just binding?

cud be spigot rings, if hes lost one when takin the wheel off
