springs or coilovers?

Is it worth waiting to get coilovers or just getting lowering springs?

Also what have people found are the best value for money of both?

    thanks

it depends what your doing with the car but i would say 90% of the cars on here are just on springs and dampers not coilies

for the money of a good coilover setup i'd go for a really good fixed height kit like bilsteins and faulkners.

however for that price you could have specced up a pretty reasonable setup on coilovers

depends how much you want to lower the car aswell as to whether you buy springs or coilovers.

or how stiff you want it as n standard setup the harder a spring is it wont lower as much
where as on coilovers you can spec up for example my gti on 285 lb springs is about 30mm down
normal 285 lbs you be prolly higher than standard unless you start sortening the damper aswell as the springs

AlexB talks sense people. My 225lb springs on go down 25mm as they are very stiff.

I'd rather have higher quality components than height adjustability. For a road car the only real point of coilovers is if you want really stiff and really low - then thats more track focused.
Theres always a balance between ride quality (more expensive dampers will give better ride), cost and rideheight.

if its just road use then an apex or spax kit will be fine. no point in the extra expense of coilovers
