New Back box, car slower! HELP!

   i used to have mini drags with my mate who has got a 1.1 106... i have a westie 1.4.
   
   i usd to whoop him ofc. but i went out today to have my new backbox welded on... and had one 2night and he whooped me! so wasnt happy and had another, and it was close but he won... how the hell is this possible! i must of lost some compression from the 4" pipe... but not that much i wouldnt of think.
   
   i mean i used to embarrass him... and this time i was the one who was embarrassed!!
   
   which isnt good!!

   make sure that its not blowing? sound like the weld hasn't sealed the exhaust.

   it is made by custom chrome racing.. the people who made the cherry bomb! it was a cheap find, as i am fucking skint!
   
   the weld is fine, thats what i thought... but its not blowing. it sounds real meaty to be honest... with no blowing.
   
   when driving around it feels exactly the same, but when compared to previous performances it sucked ass.
   
   maybe he has got better at dragging and i have never been that good... but the difference in engine size should of evened it out, plus the fact i used to whoop him... i dunno.

   well the backbox definantly isnt helping you mate. those kind of box's sacrafice performance for exhaust note.

    dunnno. i dont think so coz they do one for a rover 200, and one for a saxo/106... both "different"... but it could well be

    i cant believe that made that must difrence. i have a westie and constantly thrashed a quiksilver when i had no backbox so that must be one big restrictor plate. or maybe im a good driver

    i always said i was getting a powerflow, or ashley... but i seen this ending on ebay in 2 mins... ad it was on £16!! so i won it for £20... so i saved some cash considering i am broke as a joke!

    A back box will make fuck all difference to performance unless the actually welded the exhaust almost shut.

    i suppose everytime we raced in the past it was on a massive long road.. this was only a short tiny road. i couldnt really get going. plus the westie wheel spins a lot! she's a beast!

    just on a back street road. it is a little industrial estate... no workers after 6.30... so that shits cool. but there where wagons every where... so we had to use a small stretch, could barely get 50 mph!
    
    but he got there quicker!
    
    i dont race really to be honest mate. i have the ocasisonal drag, but thats it... i just wash my car and drink.. sometimes combine the two! happy days... when you down in manny?
