Oil temp sender on VTR? VTS dials in a VTR?

  1. #1
Wondered if you could put VTS dials in a VTR? Im guessing alot will depend on if the VTR has a oil temp sender as standard for the ECU's benefit? Has any one tried this? I wouldnt have thought the rev gauge would be affected moving from 16v to 8v cos the crank sensor reading will be from the ECU regardless of the engine?

    Cheers.

VTR doesn't have an oil temp sender.
And oil temp signal isn't sent to ECU in any Saxo/106 AFAIK

Also - if you're swapping dials, watch out for problems if swapping older ones with digital ones.

Cheers, ive checked with my mate thats selling them - both older analogue mileage.

So if oil temp is sent straight to the dials - will the wiring + connector be in the loom already somewhere? I cant see them using a different loom for VTS dials just for 1 wire... then again I could see that 1 wire been expensive for the few VTS's made compaired to the VTR :-( ?

Highly unlikely wire is already there.

Engine loom has a plug near the slam panel making them, and dash loom has a plug under the glovebox - meaning that both parts of the loom are likely to be different for different models.

Retrofitting it would be possible, but a lot of hassle IMO.

If any one has a picture of where the oil temp sensor is on the 16v engines it would be most appreciated - alot of hassle but ill probably give it a go when im bored sometime :-)

In the back of the sump - which also means new sump in order to have thread for sensor to fit.
