VT* Panels not flush.

  1. #1
My girlfriend's just bought a Mk1 VTR. The engine is immaculate, unfortunately the bodywork needs some TLC. On of the main things I noticed is the wheel arches don't seem to be 100% flush, and the front drivers side doesn't line up perfectly with the front bumper. (it's a standard vtr bodykit).

I think some of the clips may be broken/missing so will replace them. Are there any other things that might cause this? Also, how do oyu remove the panels to replace the clips?

so to remove a VTR body kit you literally just PULL IT OFF? i tried this with mine cos my bumper strips have sap or some shit on them which doesnt come off nicely so ima remove them (unfortunately they are attached to all the side skirts) so while i have it off, ima spray all the bottom too. while i was pulling away, i noticed a few clips snap, some just come out, i noticed some stupid sticky shit that looks melted on, and some metal shit clamped into the body work. they need to come off now as iv done a right number on the body kit lol

Depending on which bit, there are a few bolts aswell!

Back bumper has 6 bolts, two on top, two in wheel arches and two underneath.
From bumper has a few bolts, wheel arch, join to the slam panel and another place if i remember.

The side panels literally pull off, as do the arches I think?

Rear arches I think have one bolt that goes through into the back bumper?

so this bolt, how do i get it out? sure i just nearly dinted the plastic tryin to rip it off in the dark! all the clips are off the back Passenger side rear arch, but theres something that i cant rip so im guessing is a bolt. please dont tel me i have to take out the black plastic shit on the back seats "door" do i? what a cvnt on that would be. oh, and im doing a guide on this as i aint find one this whole time. thanks bud x

on my mk1 the vt kit on the door has a screw on it to which i undid from inside the car about half way up the door but be careful i pulled them off and some of the actual metal bits the plastic clips sit in came off as well so have some tiger seal ready
