exhaust questions :)

    right im going to change my magnex backbox for a piper one.

    i currently have a supersprint race centre pipe with magnex backbox. what im wondering is will it be louder with the piper instead of the magnex ?

    im after somehting i bit louder without removing the cat

    car is a 2002 vtr.

    well i was thinking that but i rather not decat the car. will decating it make it louder than it is just now ?

    Would be rapsier + popping.

    Have to think about mot though.

    Piper bacboxes tend to be a bit louder than magnex as magnex tend to be fairly quiet but usually see better power gains at the end of the day, if you dont want to de-cat the car then you can always try a 4-2-1 manifold or try changing the filter, what induction kit do you currently have on your car mate?

    His is a mk2 meaning the cat is in the mani. So by buying a 4 - 2 - 1 it would de - cat it...

    my cats in the mani so changing the mani is out the question unless i decat

    ive got a bmc on it mate.

    tempted to just decat it now. I can get mot down ok without it

    Most people seem to know a few dodgey MOT'ers

    Ive heard you can fit a mk1 downpipe and it de - cats but it involves relocating the oil filter...

    well yes thats the other problem haha, i can get my garage to custom fit the piper though

    im swinging towards decat though i think......

    get the decat andy but also find a cheap mk1 cat centre pipe and back box. that way come mot you dont have to fuck around with the mani as its a complete bitch to do. also unless you get a 4-2-1 for a mk2 which are usaly pretty expensive you will have to relocate the oil filter.

    ok decat it is. now i have to decide what mani to get lol. i dont have alot to spend.

    i saw on here recently someone selling a 4-1 mani that you can fit both lamda sensors in and not relocate the oil filter. thats the one im after for now i think

    EDIT: ano man i know a "friendly" mot man though

    4-2-1 Supersprint is the best imo

    im pretty sure you have to sleve the top lambda sensor otherwise the em light come's on. tbh id say your better with 4-2-1 a 4-1 give's you more gain in high revs as aposed to a 4-2-1 which give's you a better gain mid range revs. mid range revs are what you will be using on most journeys.

    for a cheap decat effort just get a mk1 manifold and downpipe

    Ive got a raceland 4-2-1 straight through pipe and janspeed back box and it sounds ace ( when it doesnt misfire) i would recomend janspeed because they are reasonably quite when your gentle but when you put your foot down its loud!

    To much effort moving oil filter, plus i want something new or new ish in good condition and its nearly impossible to find a mk1 downpipe and mani in good nick really.
