seized torsion bar

  1. #1
the torsion bar is seized in solid is there any ways in which you have used to get yours out?
  2. #2
which method have you tried to remove it?
  3. #3
theres the nut and sockets way or wd40 and a tortion bar with splines ground of to wack it out with
  4. #4
slide hammers and socket method are largely crap unless you get really lucky

Bar and big hammer are fail proof
  5. #5
we treid the socket way snaping a number of bolts trying, we tried heating it up and hammering from the other side but still no joy.

Hi mate, get some more WD on it, put your socket back on with a new bolt, wind it on to put some pulling pressure on then get your bar and a big hammer and hit it from the other side with a couple of big hit's and it should pop out. Hope you get it sorted.

Ps don't be affraid to smack it hard buddy and use a lump hammer if you have one.

yea there is no reason why a hammer from the other side wouldnt work. aslong as you have all bolts and washers out.

get a bigger hammer!! and person

lol we had both big hammer and person, shal give it another try nxt week and let you know how we get on cheers

Literally, the biggest hammer you can find and some beefy arms.

    A BIG HAMMER..

Or if you really stuck you could try ricky-p at barnsley he is really good at sorting seized torsion bars..

penerate spray from halfords we have found is much better then wd.

do not want to big of a hammer though or you will take the car off the stands. just descent size and powerful arms

done the rear now, pritty straight forward once they strated coming, moved onto the front to find the springs i brought of ebay were just standard springs not lowering springs so gotta get some more now, is there an easyer way to get springs of without taking all the drive shaft and brake of?

You have to remove the struts off completely, its the easiest thing to do.
You still have to take the caliper off and the shafts out of the hub though

We use a 22mm anti roll bar. Keep the end plate on 1 end as its a good surface to hit and cut about 1/3 of the length off it on the other end.
