suspension for my vtr

whats the best suspension setup for the saxo. looking to drop 60mm mostly for road use but some track day use as well. preferably adjustable and not too stiff.

for a 60mm drop you'll need shorter dampers, and the only set (as far as i'm aware) which are shortened are the bilstein ones from GMC. not adjustable, but very good and well worth getting. saying that, if you want full adjustability to alternate between track and road then get coilovers.

thought spax did a kit for the saxo in their psx line...anybody running on that kit. dont like buying from tuners as u usually pay over the odds for stuff. A mate works at halfords so i get good discounts there. Thanks tho.

i'm run a spax psx kit on my fiesta, it's a stiff ride, so really good for the track, yet still bearable on the roads. i haven't tried adjusting the damping yet, it's on the soft setting at the moment, so i can't say what it would be like on the hard setting.

spax are no where near as good as bilstein or koni, if you have the dosh, get one of those. in that order.

SPax VSX 60mm Kits are great value for money

PSX Kits are damping adjustable though so great for track use

Give us a call if you need a price!

you don't drive the Thrust SSC though do you? you drive a saxo and asked for the best set up for a saxo which is Bilstein with the Koni's a close second as Ratty has said. and as i said if you want full height and damping adjustment then go coilovers. you might also want to consider thicker torsion bars and a thicker anti-roll bar if you're serious about track days.

didnt know that bilstein did an adjustable kit..any way thanks for the info. im going to stick with spax and go for the psx kit.

the bilstein kit isn't adjustable, but even so it's still the best on the market for a saxo, not least for the fact that other dampers although uprated aren't shortened (like spax for example) so will bottom out with the 60mm drop you say you have planned, and others will therefor wear out much quicker than the bilsteins.

spax psx kits DO use shortened dampersspax site

the only ones which i know of to be genuinely shorter than standard dampers for the saxo/pug 106 and citroen ax are the bilsteins supplied by GMC. phone up GMC and tell them what you want and they'll tell you the same and they have years of experience in racing and tuning citroens. no offence mate, but you asked for the best and i told you (as did Ratty), so why ask for advice if you're not prepared to take it it's your car and your money though i suppose

sorry if i sounded a bit ungratfull about the advice. ill give GMC a ring and price out the bilsteins. there seems to be a consensus thet they are the best.
