How awkward is it to put a 1999 VTS engine into a 01' Mk2 vtr? My car is a three plug 98bhp. The engine i'm getting is single plug but unlocked ecu so should have no problems other than loom? Any info please let me know cheers.

#2will need to rewie it completely. easie to get a 3 plug ecu and loom
-
#3will need to wire it up as it wont plug and play
-
#4So i shouldn't bother buying a single plug then its far too awkward?
-
#5yup as above.
Will need a 3 plug ecu and loom
OR
Single plug car loom -
#6I seriously have no idea about all this ECU plugs, Looms etc, I've seen the ridiculous amount of wiring involved though.. I'm stuck on what to do!
-
#7Just get a 3 plug ecu will bee a lot easyer...
-
#8So if i just buy an unlocked 3 plug ecu it can be made to work with a 99' engine aye?
-
#9and 3 plug loom.
Not 100% about the sensors - all that might be different is the lugs on them which can be filed off if need be.
Depending on price, might be easier to buy another 3 plug vts engine/loom/ECU etc. and sell the mk1 one.
The 3 plug unlocked ECU and loom wouldn't be cheap as can't imagine people would want to split it away from the engine. -
#10I've not bought the engine yet mate just going to pick it up next week, The other problem is i can't find another newer 3 plug vts engine anywhere! Help me out

#11yeah if you have a 3 plug loom.
the problem is at the end of the engine loom where it plugs into the rest of the car loom. it has a multiplug and there are 2 diffeent sizes, al 3 plug ecu looms have a big multiplug and some single plugs have the big one too but most single plugs have a small multiplug. a 99 reg will have a small multiplug
