exhuast or car f**ked????

  1. #1
hi. started my vtr up yetsterday and noticed there was abit louder exhuast noise than usual (standard exhuast). i thought nothing of it and drove to work. as i was driving i notice it was popping alot (backfiring). i got under the car and there was no holes or anything, just the back box seemed louder.

i noticed today that as i reved it blue smoke was coming out (not grey). but only when reving, and popping alot more.

is my back box or cat f**ked? and that why it smoking?

    any help is appreciated

    cheers

i dont think its the head gasket. i changed that about 2 months ago. did ur baffles make a clunking sometimes?

would valve stem seals cause this?

blue smokes normally just burning oil. noise could be backbox just shot.

backbox is cheap to replace try that first. as for oil when was the car last serviced??

Checked to see if its blowing at the manifold gasket?

When I needed a new gasket I drove for a couple of days on the old one and it was much louder and made a slight backfiring sound when changing gears, put the new one in and all back to normal

Oh and if its not blowing at the gasket then check the rest of the system as if its blowing anywhere this will increase noise

Sounds like too much engine oil!!

blue smoke is burning oil check for leaks firstly and check your oil also your valve stems then consider if problem still persists a new backbox as it sounds as if your baffles in backbox are fkd mate
