Bleeding?

to bleed the coolant, do i open 3 valves, take water cap of and start the car and leave it running with no cap and 3 valves open?

then once ive done that, what am i looking for and how do i know its all bled?

do i shut all valves and put back on in a certain order?

or do i turn car off during car running or after?

    im just not sure

If your not refilling it all after draining it:

Open the highest valve, think its the thermostat one, and run the engine untill the fan kicks in and watch for air bubbles, top up if neccesary.

Once your happy with that one, close it off. Open the rad expansion tank cap and do the same and watch for ait bubbles, keep doing it untill theres none left.

when i bleeded it, i only done the 1 behind the engine and there was a constant flow of water

so i dont open all 3 at once?

the fan is kicking in really late as its runnign at 3/4 high temp, so by that time loads of water would have poured out

which one is expansion cap tank?

The one behind the engine is running through the head constantly. The hoses infront of the engine that go to the rad only open up when the thermostat tells it to.

So if the one behind is not blowing bubbles close it.

And do the highest bleed valve in front of the engine. After that the expansion tank cap (the bit where u refill the rad on the left of the rad). Do both individually untill the fan kicks in.

Dont do them all at the same time or youll have coolant flooding everywhere.

right so i can cross the 1 at back of engine as done then as was a few bubbles, then constant water, so that was shut and not re opened.

On top of the radiator at right hand side, there is a level type of thing were it can be twisted 90degrees, but were on the radiator does the water come out?

and 1 more on the thermostat that is an alan key which i can see that the water will come out once loosened

but with radiator 1, were does the water come out and whats the lever type thing for?

Well you want to undo the valve thats highest up, if you do one thats lower down it will piss coolant out. The highest bleed valve is the thermostat irc. But which ever seems higher undo, as air will raise to the highest point.

Once the bleed valves are done, do the same to the expansion tank.

right so were is the highest valve? that the 1 on the thermostat or on the radiator?

and the expansion tank is were? on radiator?

been a long day and i cant concentrate

I dont know which is the highest without looking and being there mate, but i think its the thermostat one you said was the alan key fitment.

Th exapnsion tank is the bottle joined on the radiator on the left hand side where you normally top up and refill with coolant.

right ok so i understand about the thermostat, i know which alan key bolt to undo, i want to undo this when cool, and when car is running. so coolant wont come out there at all?

so how do i know when to close the valve?

next thing is the expansion tank, so is there a valve, some sort of bolt i need to undo?

Run the car and have the alan key bold undone untill u see no bubbles.

Just the cap on the expansion tank mate, the refil cap take it off, and its easy to see bubbles rising. Same again, keep running and refilling untill no bubbles. Then run till the fan kicks in and refill and repeat it if needs be.
