De-wiper

Is it as easy as all the guides and people say it is or is there special tools needed or just alot of force becuase i heard they can be a nightmare to get off the spindle?
Also what size grommet do i need to plug the hole?
  2. #2
a torx torque? however you spell it screwdriver and either a 8 or 10 mil spanner cant remeber now, aslong as you undo it all its quite easy to get off, if you struggle use some lubricant and dont be dead rough cause remeber theres nothing between it and you glass, and as for a grommit theres one in your boot floor under carpet that fits a treat
  3. #3
    yeah its easy

did mine other day and wiper arm came off no problem with no lubricant and i used a 21 or 22mm rubber grommet
  4. #4
took me no longer than 10mins
  5. #5
    Sawed it off .........
  6. #6
I resorted to using the hacksaw on mine...

If you have trouble getting it off, tryin smothering it in WD40 then holding a hair dryer on it for a lil bit to losen everything up

    worked for me

if you have electric windows you wil see the grommet in the car where the window winder would have been its fits perfect in the hole. . its plastic but it dont leak

Preds one doesnt go into great detail, so heres my quick guide

    1. Take trim off inside of boot, 3 torx screws
    2. Close boot and take off plastic cover on far left of wiper
    3. Undo nut that hold wiper on
    4. Pull wiper off, couple of sprays of wd40 maybe. Or like i did as it wouldnt come off, hacksaw the wiper off without cutting the spindle.
    5. take off plastic nut thing and then open the boot and undo the 2 bolt on the inside of the boot and pull motor out.
    6. get a gromet from under the carpet in the boot and put it in the hole where the wiper was
    7. admire work

Its got to be done. Yeah anyway if you get stuck just ask and il point you in the right direction. If you have trouble getting the wiper off even after wd40, iv heard heating it up with a hair dryer can loosen it
  24. #24
yer well i will get back to you if it don't come off mate, things don't usually go well for me when modding my cars so not expecting much tbh
  25. #25
i don't see how everyone had a problem, mine was like butter to take off

i took the wiper off first and left everything inside the boot til the end! 4 torx screws and three bolts and it was out!
  26. #26
Got rid of mine on friday..... Wish I'd done it sooner to be honest.
  27. #27
Wat does the gromet in the boot cover and is it important?
  28. #28
When i de-wipered mine and it took minutes, and makes the car look alot cleaner and smoother without the wiper on. I sued the grommet under the carpet in the boot. The grommet in the boot goes in the hole that is left when you de-wiper your car so itll look like this:

its easy to dewiper the rear.
some dude on here sells really good dewiper gromets in the for sale section.
    about 2 or 3 quid i think.
easiest way is to carefully hacksaw the spindle just below the retaining nut. all the other steps to removing the rear wiper and motor are just straight forward nuts and bolts.

step by step......how to remove rear wiper

    1) take intirior panel off from inside boot lid only 3 screws

    2) lift the cover from the nut at the bace of wiper and undo the nut

    3) remove the wiper from the spindle (if it wont come strait off there is a tool you can use that will pull it off the right way or just some wd40) be careful when you do this the glass will break if your not

    4) when the wiper is off take out the trim disk out then the grommet cover

    5) now remove the wiper motor or just un plug it your choice

6)take the old grommet out of the window and fit the new sealed one

    7) pull out the old washer jet from the top of the window and block up the end of the hose with a bung (tight or you will get a wet boot)

    8) fit a grommet into the hole were the washer jet was

all done hope this helps a few people out getting the smooth look

  34. #34
I popped my back window doing mine! Be careful guys!
  35. #35
thanks all. never thought of de wipering till i read this. i got my back window put through so i was looking on here how to unseize wiper from motor shaft, thought of cutting with hacksaw. then new wiper. you've all saved me bout 15 quid an hard work. no grommets under my carpet, but cheap enough. looks much cooler, thank god for you boy racer types lol xphil
