Greek VTS Turbo (great pics)

I thought some of the engine-boffs may be interested to see pics of George Svolopulos' turbocharged VTS.

I've just added his car to the website... here...

A couple of pics to wet your appetite.

0-60 - 5.5 secs thats going some how does he get the power down ?
  3. #3
    mmmm very nice
  4. #4
    very nice!

one thing missing is the alloys sprayed black
  5. #5
    wow

How does the gearbox remain in one piece without being atomised from all that torque?

    319bhp or PS!
    0 - 100 in 10secs - thats nearly supercar terroritory.

Ive just done the calcs to convert the units from the graph into lb/ft and bhp

WOuld have been nice to see a at the wheels print out though. rather than flywheel.

Running 16psi boost, Id say the power figurea re about right though!

Granted, its not going to run like that forever with the chocolate gearboxes, but George plans to fit an LSD to help with grip... but also put the boost to 22psi!

Will be interesting seeing this develop.

remember you showing me this a while ago, looks very interesting. Would like to see some pics of the manifold off the car.

Also the position of the extra injectors, from what i can see they would be spraying against the boost pipe? THough on boost i suppose this would help carry the fuel onwards.

    Loving the external gate

Many people fit injectors tangentially... Mine used to be, but I didnt like it. Some tuners still say that is the best way though.

I've just emailed George letting him know his cars online and some further info on it would be great!

something to aim for when I get mine RR ;p
  10. #10
very nice saxo that, how much that cost to get done
  11. #11
moneys not a problem for some people mate... just be happy someone have achived the figures and set a standard for you to beat
  12. #12
i will be trying my best to beat it next year, whats the power at the wheels work out to be

Depends what transmission loss you assume, but at ~26%, it works out to be 230 - 240bhp @ wheels, which doesnt seem too far away from reach.

But, you'd definately need some driveshaft/gearbox modifications with that power!!
  14. #14
You cant see on the rolling road print out, due to the stamping, but the date shown is the 24-Nov-2004. So, in theory this car could have been modded more since?

I only received the specification and photos a week ago though, so I would assume spec is fairly upto date.
  15. #15
    That looks pretty bang on!

Love the fact he still has the S rims on! big heavy fuckers
  16. #16
is that 26% a figure for all saxos then, loss through transmission?does he come on the site frequently?would you say it is possible for a supercharged saxo to get that amount of torque?
  17. #17
26% is a figure I picked out of the air, however I believe the transmission loss figure GMC use (via Citroen) is around 23 - 26%.

I'm not sure how often George comes onto Saxperience, as he's never yet postedc in the forum. He goes by the username of BLADERUNNER.

With a high enough boost pressure, I would say it is possible for a S/C to see similar torque, yes.

0-60 in 5.5???? Ok so when he get the 4wd converson done?

That thing woudl spin up if he launched in third! hahaha

HAPPY NEW YEAR guys!! iam writting for the first time althought i watch the site for a long time. I turbocharged my saxo in october2004 and has run 22.000klms since. The only big problem -like some of you geussed- is my gearbox. I broke two of them last summer and the one i have now doesnt sound working good.So my mod plans postponed for a few months as my gearboxes costed me 2000euros. The road experience is unbilievable,in full throttle the tires are screaming all the way from stand till 60mph and if the tarmac isn't good enough continues and in half third gear(very often on greek roads). the extra injectors are facing the throttle body and sprays right in the inlet manifold. The engine mods costed about 8000euros.

welcome mate as i said before very nice car
  21. #21
welcome mate, lets hope you over come the problems and get more power, would be nice to see a high bhp on the graph for people to compete with..
  22. #22
i will be one of the competitors ,bladerunner is they not a rolling road near you that gives wheel figures
  23. #23
i dont think he would be losing 26% in drivetrain losses on a 300+bhp engine. thats 70bhp or thereabouts. the losses do not go up as the power increases but remains the same as frictional losses in the drivetrain remain the same. if the did a standard 90bhp saxo like mine would have about 20whp as it has the same basic drivetrain. i would say on a fwd car from experience the losses are between 15 to 20 hp depending on gearing, rolling resistance of the tyres and the inertia from the flwheel and weight of wheels. tuners usually artificialy increase the frictional losses so the engine apears to be producing more power than it is.

    What an awesome saxo!!!!!!
  25. #25
The dyno that measured my saxo is dynapack. It gives flyweel power and then theoretically you count 15% losses for 2wd cars. Also the 0-60 ,0-100 numbers are measured with professional equipment V-BOX that automobile magazines uses. In fact the photos are from agreek mag that i work as a photographer. The weel power must be around 280-290 hp.
  26. #26
I would always use wheel figs as unless the engine is out you cant get fly figs (im sick of saying this really!)

    I agree Ratty

John, I dont agree with a 26% transmission loss either, but that is always the figure (I seem to remember), which is banded around and talked of as gospel by some people.

w.hp is what matters, as everything else is subject to 'more' speculation.
  28. #28
no idea wht u tech guys said but it looks nice lol
  29. #29
GMC quote 23% as thats what citroen quoted them if i remember correctly. 23% is to high but who gives a snot about fly figures
  30. #30
    very very nice
  31. #31
    Very, very, very nice
  32. #32
Well then... i'll take my saxo for a dynorun on a different dynometer to see the weel power and everybody will be happy.Just wait a few days guys!
  33. #33
good man! thats what I like to see, someone playing the game as it should be
  34. #34
Please, PLEASE get some videos of the car on the rolling road!!!

    You cant beat video's!!

  35. #35
defo neeed to see vids mate .
  36. #36
Very very nice ride fair play .....anyone know where i can get a manifold like for my VTR turbo
