Thermostat?

   My coolant temp light comes on after ive had my car running for around ten mins. Could this be the thermostat? What are the signs of a broken thermostat?

   The heaters still work and when the temp light comes on it stays on but the temp gauge stays just over half on half. Could it just be a lack of antifreeze, put plenty of water in but only about litre of antifreeze, or could it be an airlock in the system?
   Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

   sounds a bit dodgy to me lol and the bast way to check your thermostat is to take it out (very simple) then put it in a jug and pour boiling water on it and it should open if not its broken also check all plugs are connected etc but the antifreeze shouldnt affect it

   im currently havin these problems too but my ca is stuck in a compound till monday n cant check it till then

   When your engine is hot, is your top water hose and rad also hot?

   yes they are hot, i thought that would be a sighn that the thermostat is working. Maybe theres an airlock, needs the coolant water ratio increasing?
