Has anybody done any of these

  1. #1
    Little mods before?

    1. Took the original wing mirrors, smoothed them & stuck some orange led's in them so they work as the indicators (i dont want to buy the ever so popular wing mirrors with built in indicators).

    2. Took out the buttons on the centre console, smoothed out the little dip in them & sprayed them silver to match your silver centre console?

    3. Drilled a hole in the top of the plastic bit that surrounds the clocks & put a flashing led in it to make it look like the car has an alarm?

These are just a few cheap mods iam doing & just seeing if anyone else has done them & ifso are they tricky mods to do? if you havent done them do they sound like good mods or are they just another chavvish mod?
  2. #2
Chavvish Mod..please do not do these things! More hassle than there worth!
  3. #3
Oh bugger, ive kind of done the smoothing the buttons & spraying them silver to match the centre console, but havent yet done any of the others, hence why i asked if they were chavvish or not.
  4. #4
    How can that be chavvish?!

If you make a good job, it'll be spot on mate

Thee only thing i can see myself having a problem with is smoothing the wing mirrors as they are curved, but ever since i saw cars with indicators in the wing mirrors ive always wanted them, but as we all know the good ol' m3 etc style wing mirrors are getting abit popular & as iam one who likes to do mods myself i thought i would ask & see if anyone has done them.

Well, alot of chavs seem to do all this cheap home made mods so it could be seen as a chav mod, but i havent yet seen any picture of any car with these little mods done.

The smoothing of the buttons have come out quite well & iam impressed, just need to spray them up silver now.

I might try & see if i can get hold of a spare set of wing mirrors & try smoothing them, saves me messing up mine.

Chavvish was the option he gave...
I would not have done those mods as its too much hassle, my opinion and all to their own I guess! Thumbs up if ya can do it and its a good job!

i think puttin an alarm i would be the best option mate ,if someone tries to break into your car a night ur not goin to hear a flashing LED.
  8. #8
its a deterrant. Not a bad idea if you ask me.
  9. #9
With the money shortage i have i cant afford an alarm & my car will be parked on the drive at night, none of our vehicles have been broken into (touch wood).

My windows are tinted so its abit hard seeing in, but if they see a flashing led they may think it has an alarm on it.

I will most probably get an alarm on it at a later stage & possibly use that led for the alarm.
  10. #10
    pics of the smoothed buttons?
  11. #11
Once ive sprayed them up silver i will get a picture of them, at the moment they are in primer ready for rubbing down & spraying silver, so should have them finished in the next few days.

I've done the Flashing LED on mt saxo, 5min job and very very helpfull.... everyone thought it was an alarm and i told them it was to.

but i spent more on my saxo than i could afford to replace so i got a clifford alarm.

    in my opionion. Do it

Quite a few people do this who cant actually afford an alarm, but most of them are in that black bit next to the buttons so i thought i may aswell put it some where else, also proper alarms have the led's where ive just said, but i like to be different.
  17. #17
that looks ok so far tony keep us updated on what else you are doing
  18. #18
I will do lee, just still thinking what little interior mods i can do, you've seen my clocks havent you.
  19. #19
Ive got a full tube of filler here so you can tell what sort of little mods i have in mind.
  20. #20
tony are you doing anything to the air vents what about makeing a plate to put a dial in it or something like that preety limted to what you can do after what you have done to it all ready what else do you have in mind.
  21. #21
Ive sprayed the air vents near the doors, the air vent in the middle is just black but the surround is silver.

Iam sure theres a few more little mods i can make that havent been done yet.
  22. #22
what about the ashtray in silver
  23. #23
too match the air vent at the side.
  24. #24
The fake alarm is nice and easy - I have a line of three flashing - At night it looks the biz. So carry on and have fun
  25. #25
    Already done that mate

Ive got a metal heater knob & metal heater slider, but still got the standard black fag lighter.

I doubt the ashtray & lighter will be used & i need to respray the centre console, so you know, something might go in its place if i can find something good.

Are they all the same colour led's or 3 different colours?
  27. #27
what about the fuse cover have you done that
  28. #28
    Shhhhhhhhhhh lee.

    Lol, no i havent mate.

Might be another thing on the list
  29. #29
are you going to spray the dash as well please tell me i wont tell any one lol.
  30. #30
    The whole dash?

Ive thought about it, but decided against it.
  31. #31
why it be a good idea
  32. #32
To much hassle of getting it out, sanding it down, spraying it up & getting it back in without scratching the paint off.
  33. #33
its not that bad at getting out its preety easy it would look good as well it would be worth it
  34. #34
That might be a future mod then, but certainly one that i dont plan on doing any time soon.
  35. #35
alright just an idea cant think off any more you can do or what about the steering column under the wheel painting that.
  36. #36
I could really do with a new one of them as i tightened the screws to hard & its not held together with screws, but it doesnt dangle down luckily.

But yeah if i got a new one then i would spray it up.
  37. #37
go too the scrappy they might have one.
  38. #38
Once my cars on the road i will sure be hitting a drive to a scrap yard, need a few other bits & bobs aswell, such as wing mirrors (to try my little mod on), ecu cover, vt* rear bumper fixing brackets & maybe some other cheap plastic bits i can stick my filler on.
  39. #39
keep us updated t i will catch you in a bit think is time for bed now my left eye keeps shuting.
  40. #40
Heres a little update for you lee, My Update
  41. #41
How about this one then people.

Has anybody done this little mod?

Smooth the dipped bit at the top inbetween the dials (on the vts it has a needle there), also sprayed up the dial surround, sprayed the little bits on the centre of the needles & sprayed them long buttons that reset the milage when you fill up/dim the backlight of the dials & change the clock?
