Just spent loads of money rebuilding my car, engine the lot, with a mechanic who knows exactly what hes doing. However when started it missfires (only when idling), the coolant temp light comes on after about 10 mins. Ive changed the plugs which made no difference either, then the thermostat and coolant sensor thats in the thermostat housing and when i started my car i forgot to put the coolant sensor plug in and there was no misfire, it sounded very healthy, but the coolant light came on. Tried it with the sensor plugged in and back to square one. Then tried it without and it was worse. Its runs fine when driven, no misfire, but the coolant light still comes on as always. We bled the coolant thouroughly. My mate/mechanic thinks its running lean because an injector is maybe blocked? Who Knows though! Its off to the garage tomorow for a wheelbearing and im going to get them to have a look at this unless someone has any ideas? Help would be much apprieciated!
Absolutely had enough!!!

Stick the whole bottle in and see how you get on (y) -
#3got some ive just lost it and not had the money to get fuel, but will tomorow and im going to give it ago, cant see it sorting the coolant temp out though, although i have heard that when an engines running lean it runs hotter? Could the injector be the cause of both?
-
#4Not 2 sure mate it might be , hopefully the garage may have the answer for you tmoz with a bit of luck mate you can olny try the cheap things first and see how it goes from there mate sorry to hear that you are having problems and hope you get it sorted soon.

#5Tried the injector cleaner, didnt work, havent used a lot of the fuel with the cleaner in it tho because my coolant gets hot and i dont want to leave it on to long with overheating coolant!

#6The coolant warning light even comes on when the gauge is really low. Is the gauge engine, oil or coolant temp. i Know the light is for coolant temp.
-
#7sure uv not got any leaks in the cooling system
-
#8Am i not stating the obvious here but maybe the coolant temp sensor ?
-
#9unless its a one shot bottle i wouldnt put anywhere near a full bottle of redex in
-
#10your supposed to put half a bottle redex to a full tank thats why it says it treats two tanks
-
#11Well that picture says 4 tanks so 1/4 would be better.
Infact 500ml is designed for '4 tanks'. Thankfully it says that a 'tank' is 50 litres. Therefore, on the basis that 500ml is designed for 4, 50 litre tanks - they are saying 125ml for every 50 litres of petrol.
In other words 2.5ml of Redex for every 1 litre of petrol (which is a drop in the ocean by the way).
I think my saxo holds about 45 litres so 112.5ml is the amount you should use :-)
In all seriousness, ive never had an overdose Redex probelm, infact using it neat on thottle boddies and parts full of oil and crap cleans them a treat :-)
... im having a busy day. -
#12when i used it in the saxo awhile back it made bugger all difference lol
-
#13yeah used it in my old car and didnt make a difference, i suppose if i was hoping for some kind of boost i shud av jus got a bigger engine lol
-
#14Any luck with the problem?

#15did you check your plugs? also did you check to make sure that the coil pack is not fault?
also if they dont work then maybe check your compression!!
does the water boil over or does the gauge just read hot? did you check to see if the water is boiling over or just going on the gauge as you could have a fualty sensor or gauge!
