Vtr Mk2 - Fuel pressure regulator?!?

   Am i right in thinking that the standard fpr on a mk2 vtr is in the tank located next to the fuel pump?
   
   Ive got to get an adjustable or set fpr as im running boost, something like a sytec or webber, but my question is:
   
   I want to fit my uprated fpr under the bonnet, how do i go about this?
   
   
   i.e - mount fpron the bulkhead etc?!

   i baught an ajustable one off ebay, it lets me turn the fuel down but not up so i no the mk2 has 1 but i cant find it under the bonnet so must be. if you find it let me no

   yup, its on the tank, you remove the one from the tank, fit the adjustable one inline to the fuel rack in the bay, pretty simple to do

   I suppose it depends on the fuel rail - if it has an inlet and outlet then you'll just install the fpr as part of the return.
   
   Might just be a matter of extending the lines to your standard fpr at the tank.

   My fuel system is:
   
   fuel tank -> fuel rail in engine bay -> fpr in engine bay -> fuel tank
   
   What fuel rail are you running? As the vtr rails don't have a return 'nipple' iirc ?

   No mate they dont, just a flat end so cant do it that way

   So you'll have to run the return line to the engine bay, into the fpr mounted on bulkhead, then the line coming off the fpr back to the tank. Effectively extending the pipes on the standard fpr on the tank so you can mount the fpr in the engine bay - you'd have 3 lines running through the car.

    the origoinal regulator.. is it inside the tank? or is it outside, inbetween the fuel filter and tank?

    its located the other side of the fuel pump to the fuel filter, and is outside the tank

    How i've set mine up (you may want to include a swirl pot too, if you're after any reasonable amount of power. I was getting fuel starvation with 140@wheels)

    ok cheers, iv just took it off my fuel rail n put into my fpr then out my fpr to 5th injector and fuel rail. just got to take the standard fpr out.

    Those diagrams are a big help, am having a swirl pot so should avoid starvation, in that diagram the, is you fpr mounted on the bulkhead?

    Its mounted in the engine bay, so technically it could be mounted to the bulkhead - but thats just not where i choose to put it.
    
    Bit hard to make out whats connected to what - but the diagrams roughly translated to this in real life ;

    thanks mate, thats a great help, so you've mounted the fpr between the filter and the top connection on the fuel rail?
    
    just out of interest what fpr is that? set at a certain bar eg. 4? or adjustable?
    
    and thats an early silvertopn engine to fit the rallye inlet, correct? going to try fit one to my 52 plate vtr engine, i'll find some way to do it!

    Yeah - more or less as per the diagram. FPR has an input, output and overflow.
    So fuel goes Swirl Pot > Pump > Filter > FPR then either to the rail, or if pressure is already reached, to the overflow which goes back to the swirlpot
    
    FPR i think is a weber model. Think its a 3.5bar pressure referenced, base pressure isn't adjustable, although can be ran as just a 3.5bar one if you don't connect a pipe with the inlet pressure. From GMC.
    
    Inlet spacing is totally wrong on the later silvertop heads. You'll need to revert back to an old style silvertop or blacktop. No idea whats involved otherwise in doing that.
    
    Boost pipes - silicone ones i've cut up numerous times from the original ones i got in the GMC s/c kit. The alloy ones are the same, or ones i've picked up cheap on ebay.
