#2well i dought they be legal when driving.
i always thought that neons are for off-road use only.
but correct me if i wrong -
#4yh the legal if they nt 2 bright while drivin
-
#5as long as they dont dazzle yourself and other drivers i cant see them being a problem
-
#6interior neons are legal, undercars are legal as long as they are not blue! I had an X5 police pass me on a 30 dual carriageway roadwworks and I had my pink neons on... he didnt pull me...
-
#7u cant have neons on in the car while drving...but obvously if there not too bright to dazzle other drivers then probably not to bright for police to notice
-
#8yea u can... dunno where u got that from... if u can have them under the car then u can have them inside... obv if they are insanely bright or in the windows then it will be illeagle but who is that stupid?
-
#9Any blue light that can be seen from the outside of your car is illegal. And i thought under car neons were only legal for offroad use...
-
#10lol i use to get pulled all the time for my under car neons, but they were multi coloured (changing colour)
Who gives a toss mate, if you get pulled, you get pulled... If they see your car, and think "were gunna b the commont wanker copper" they will pull you, neon lights on or off - they will find an excuse...
just go for it and you will soon find out if your local PC Plod is a nice, understanding copper... Or a sly, snatchet bastart that needs to go back to balamory.
(sorry im a bit bitter against cops just now - wankers kicked out my mates head light so they could book him after finding fuck all wrong with the car...) -
#11soo many different views . . i was going to get a blue neon for inside but now im unsure. some people say its legal some say its not. . . what to do !?!?
-
#12my mate used to have blue neons in his focus and we never got pulled.. if that helps
-
#13might have to make a few calls . id hate to be stoped by the police.
-
#14Mate, tbh - make sure your properly insured, taxed and not over the limit. if you get pulled - fuck em
-
#15blue undercar is only illeagle colur
-
#16Just fit em mate. If ur gunna be a pussy about modding a car, then you wont get far away from standard tbo.
They can only tell you too take them off again
-
#17Im sure their legal? they shouldn't be that bright anyway
-
#19i think u have to be carefull if there blue
-
#20blue neons aren't legal, but if they're not bright, cops won't see them from the outside of the car.
i got blue ones too. i've had them for over a year and still haven't been pulled. -
#21but i want them so you can see from the outside otherwise whats the point ? haha
any other colour sugestions ?

my car -
#22well said, as long as your insured and have good tread tyres (oops, 1 of mine is low) then u will be fine... plus who said that car modifying was all legal was a dumbass.Quote:Just fit em mate. If ur gunna be a pussy about modding a car, then you wont get far away from standard tbo.

#23m8 ive got bright blue neons all over the inside the car. just put them in
-
#24I thought any neons under the car whilst drive are illegal? You have to be stationary to have them on.
-
#25them lights are shite, i had them for about a week before they broke, not worth it imo
-
#26look shit too imo.

#29Exterior neons are not illegal as long as you cannot see the light source. So all you can see is the glow being produced. The glow must also not be causing a distraction. etc. Which any copper will say it is causing a nuisance so switch em off.
The blue ones are not technically illegal as the law staes you cannot have any blue beacon, warning lamp etc fitted to the exterior of your car, or anything that resembles one of those warning lights. Well the neon bulb a) shouldn't be visible and b) the glow certainly doesn't resemble a warning beacon. And this is a serious grey area as any copper that pulls you will believe you are braking the law and that they are right.
The below link is a good read regarding the legality of interior and exterior neons. It basically puts the law down to the discretion of the individual who pulls you.

#31Hi,
I presume they would be legal as they are not external lights after all, only internal. Provided that they are not too bright or cause distraction to other drivers.
Mark.

#32if your worried about the interior neons, then just wire them up so that when you open your car doors they turn on with the interior light. or if not then just do it and then least the police could do is tell you to take them out/turn them off.
