Could You Do this (Gearbox ?)

  1. #1
Right so i was thinking Peugeot and Citroen are same company, does like a 1.4 206 use the same engine as say a furio saxo, i was thinking therfor you could take the gearbox of and put it in a saxo as the gearbox in my mates 03 plate 206 is much smoother than my saxo (or am i just chatting complete bollocks) because my gearbox is wank, and im sure you guys have the same trouble ? my car literally jumps when i put it in reverse and sometimes wont go in until ive let the clutch out, So basically what im trying to ask is Other than like 106 boxes and other saxo boxes would anything else fit ?
    Thanks
    Ross

looks like the 1.4 8v uses the furio tu engine

So it would be possible ? or would it have different mounting points, etc, etc

are you sure your clutch is releasing properly as you said in another thread that its very stiff?

Yeah it is stiff, compared to my mates fiesta, punto, corsa, 306. 99% of the time you put it in revers and it only goes in like once, so you let the clutch out and it crunches

the 206 1.4 engine is the exact same as furio 1..4 engine, came off the same priduction line just had a diff badge in corner

saxp clutches are stiffer on the whole. but if its terrible the clutch will need replacing.

there is also a small pin in the gearbox linkage arm the can be replaced (5minute job) and that will reduce some play as they are nearly always causing some play

Yeah will give it a go, my clutch bite is like basically your foot of the clutch when it bites, dunno weather that helps really, i think my clutch is naffed tbh

i would recommend changing the clutch first. but if you can get a box cheap then go for it.

just for the record i have had two saxos and with both of them sometimes i have to press the clutch in again to get it in reverse. and with my current saxo i have had a brand new clutch kit, all gear linkages and a reconditioned box and it still does this sometime when i go in reverse

Hmmm so basically there isnt alot i could do about it, seems pretty common solves my gearboix issue, still dosnt answer the original question though, Would any other boxes fit other than a 106 or saxo box ?

not all 206 boxs will fit and work, they need to come off a tu engine 206 and some use a hydrolic clutch and a differnt bell housing, the bell housing takes around 4 hours to swap for a saxo one

Cheers mate , is it possible to fit a hydrolic clutch to a saxo, i imagine it would be quite expensive to do

Hydraulic will be overkill really because a cable and clutch that are in good condition are light enough and quite acceptable to use.
I have the issue with reverse gear though and my clutch is adjusted well and is smooth and progressive, just a saxo thing or maybe I need to renew fluid and check me linkages? A job for another day anyway.
