#4dont be silly, rat look is shit.
-
#5my thoughts exactly but its their car...
'done'? as in rusted? would be a piece of cake to do it to your own.
get a wire brush/nitromors or somethin to remove the paint then spend a while hosing down the bare metal then let it dry, repeat over an over till your bored
-
#6thanks
-
#8salt will quicken the process
-
#9don't personally get why people like the rat look, each to their own
, diy job id have thought, or you might get lucky and find someone selling.
-
#10its all about cool points in the VAG scene. any other brand its just deemed shit by other owners, and the general public will just think its a wrecked car.Quote:don't personally get why people like the rat look, each to their own

all in all a waste of time, effort and money(when you decide to get a new bonnet or respray it) -
#11in my point off view rat look a car when youve got an amazing engine
i wouldnt say rat look would suit a saxo ive never even seen rat look saxo -
#12was just thr bonnet i was looking into but im not getting one
-
#13Maybe thats the whole point. The original poster (LT_TA) wants to be different?Quote:in my point off view rat look a car when youve got an amazing engine

Why does everyone want everyone elses saxos to be clones of their own??? -
#14Tbh u need an old car to pull off the rat look, not a semi modern sporty hatchback, ahwell back to the drawing board
-
#15i lyk rat look on golfs n that not on saxo's mate
-
#1660 quid and i'll get you a rusty bonnet.
-
#17Older cars gain the rat look much easier too I spunked all my money on the engine and suspension on my MG, the paintwork was acceptable when I bought it but 3 years down the line its cracked all over and has rust showing in a few areas. I dont mind it looking like that because the internals are all good and I drive the car dont look at it, I much prefer the natural looking rat look rather then ones that look forced especially on modern cars.

#22rat look is shit...............

#23I had bmw E36 which i rat looked .
You cant buy panels Rusted (unless your a complete mug , which im sure your not)
1st get nitro morse or any other product/item that will strip off your paint ,
2nd get a small bottle of SEA SALT !!!
3rd pour some sea salt onto your bonnet and sprinkle the bonnet with a hose
4th keep repeating this for about 2weeks and your bonnet will be awesomly rusty
5th Laquer it so it cant get any more rusty and it will look good
-
#24stupid idea, but your could do it yourself
-
#25why would some one want to do that to a 2-3k car, why not buy a £100 piece of shit that is naturly rusty if thats what you like???
-
#26rat look can look good but you've got to be committed. a shabby car with a rusty bonnet isn't a rat. nor is flakey unwashed paint with a few dents kicked into it.
a real rat will be a bit of a sleeper. a rapid engine and a pin sharp chassis. money isn't spent on cosmetic tat cos it won't make you go any quicker. this is the essence of the rat. -
#27of course you cant buy it already done, thats like saying can i buy a heap of shit. Its not a good look in my opinion and for some people it seems they go down the route purely because they cannot be bothered to bring the car to a good standard......rant over.
-
#28why would you want a rusty looking car?
surely it'd be worth naff all when you come to sell it on?
-
#29Rat look bonnet only looks good if the rest of the car is immaculate, you'd be stupid ratting the whole car
-
#30in my own view i think that the rat look is for cars that already shit.
-
#31y people gettin so mad up bout this...i didnt say i was ratting whole car or buying the bonnet
-
#32ill sell you a rusty bonnet, price of a painted one +£30
-
#33Rub the paint off your old bonnet using a highish grit sandpaper then pour water all over it or leave it in a pool or something for a while, when it has rusted up leave it to dry then laquer over the top
-
#34bloody hell, he's only asking! If thats what the kid wants to do fair play let him do it.
If it isn't the same as everyone elses its shit. I dont like rat look but thats not the point.
Leave him to it lol
just strip the paint back and get lotsa water on it, soon rust up a treat, youll pick a bonnet up for a few quid at a scrappy mate -
#35This thread is like a year old btw.Quote:bloody hell, he's only asking! If thats what the kid wants to do fair play let him do it.

#36just speak to a mod about him, stop bringing up all his old threads
-
#37rat look is fookin awesome , not just rust its odd paint ,odd wheels and stace and gimics , saxos would look good , more of a dub thing tbh
-
#38rat=shit, why make a decent car look absolutely shite
-
#44personally think rat look only looks good on "VW's", they were one of the originals to do this theme and i think it should stay like that... rat look on a saxo is a no no
-
#46It looks nasty mate...
