    Car is approx 125bhp

I've been looking at buying the above car.. it just failed it's MOT on a sensor.. turns out it was a map sensor and when replaced it went straight through the MOT

I've spoke 2 a few local lads who know quite a lot about engine mods and been told that the car needs to be running a "unichip" or "omex 600 ecu"

This car is just running a standard 3 plug ecu which has been mapped.

Is it essential to running the different ecu? and will it cause any future problems just having the standard.. as the new ones are around £600.

    Thanks in advance

If its a decent quality map and you dont want to do any more engine mods then leave it alone.

Your buddies are on about standalone ecus which basicaly replace the cars standard one and offer a massive amount of features to tweek the engines settings to get the very best from it and the mods.

A good quality remap is basicaly a cheaper alternative.

it is running the standard 3 plug ecu but has been remapped by superchips ltd (with receipt), it will come with the superchips customer key which makes re-mapping a lot cheaper and easier

To be honest. Thats a pretty normal mod. Some people hate them but others love them.

Basicaly your car will perform better than a std vtr but will more than likley not running anywere near its potential. Thats when it gets expensive
