Does anyone know if you can fit a vtr silver top cam in a 1.3 s1 rallye head? straight swap?? any extra parts involved??

    no....

    they have different style cam's

roller and non roller or something along the lines of that.

Take it you know this from experience then lol

    it wont fit mate

the rallye and xsi heads, use bigger bearings so they wont swap

plus why would you want to put a vtr cam in 1.3 rallye head? the s1 and s2 rallye and 1.6 xsi actually use a mild cam as standard, its 270deg cam they use, so you would actually be downgrading the head with vtr cam, if it fit that was lol

    why would you want to?

no the cam wont fit into rallye head, plus that cam is still the same duration as rallye one i think

so still mayaswell use the rallye cam mate

and like toms_vtr said use the rallye inlet aswell if you got the head

oh and just checked kent mate the pt40 is 266deg, so the rallye cam is alot better, if the rallye head still has that just use the rallye cam you will actually see alot better gains with it, plus the rallye cam hasd alot more lift too

this is going onto a vtr isnt it?

would the rallye head and cam run properly on the standard vtr map though, and be reliable? cant quite afford a remap yet, I was looking to run on the standard map till i can raise some cash

erm well depends on what cam you intend to use mate, erm cause really you have 2 options,

use the rallye cam with the rallye head and that will run fine on standard map cause its only a mild cam and is dead easy to set up just set it up for standard timing

orr you need to get a new cam and only option really is to get say a ph2 as that will fit the rallye head but ideally you would need a remap for that, as i found out today the hard way

erm basically those are the two options because if you dont want a remap then the only cam is a mild cam, butttt the rallye cam is a mild cam so just use that, then its a 280 deg cam which would need a remap

    hope that helps mate

yea helps alot cheers, so ive decided what im going to do,,
I'm going to stick the rallye head on with the standard rallye cam and the rallye inlet mani, and run on the standard map for a little while,
when you say the standard rallye cam has "alot more lift" am I going to have problems with valve clearance or anything?
plus any thing to remember when doing this conversion? hints and tips?
(sorry about all the questions I want this done properly)

yer thats a good option mate

the inlet will be a pain to get to idle properly, as mine was a bit annoying, but quite simple

and yes the cam is fine mate, no clearence issues at all, its basically a mild cam with more lift, but a safe amount you should see some nice gains with all that, oh and to use the rallye head you actually need rallye injectors as the vtr ones dont fit another thing i found out the hard way, luckily i had some in the garage with the set up i had lol

feel free to pm me aswell mate if you have any ques etc im sure i can help in some way lol
