ive just turbo's my gti and im useing a saab turbo map sensor wich i have been told will work but soon as its pluged in it runs lumpy and revs to 3k when driving then cuts back not sure if i have fitted it right could anyone give me any advise on how to make the 2 bar map sensors working

You cant just swap a map sensor for a different type with out mapping the management for it.

a lad i used to no but moved away did it to his vts he used saab map sensor on standerd ecu on standerd map so it can be done just need to figure it out the ecu isnt botherd about boost it just doesnt like it when the stock map sensor it at 1 bar and running 4.80v so the 2 bar put that voltage out at 2 bar

just use the standard map sensor but cap the voltage with a diode.

I don't really know where to start to explain this one.

Map sensors don't all work the same. Some have a linear progression where as some are not. They often don't even work in the same voltage ranges. So simply swapping one for just any old one does not work. It would be lime me typing this in Finnish and you not being able to read it.

The stock management map does not extend that far. Even if the management could see boost the management would simply not know what to do. This would be like me giving you a map to some place but the map stops half way there and you not knowing the destination. With out the map you cant get there.

There is more but you probably get the point. Your friend was probably using a piggy back ECU connected to the MAP sensor they fitted if they had not altered the stock ECUs original map. This is a very common way of running boost on these and many other cars.
