burning smell when heeters are on

   when i have been drivin around in my vtr there is a burning smell sumtimes i was drivin in the rain yesterdai and i put my heeters on so i would be able 2 be able 2 clear the windscreen but im gettin worried about the smell so does any 1 no how 2 fix this thanks ian

   does it make a difference if you circulate air inside the car to drawing it in from outside?

   Mine doesn't, just hot or cold and a choice of which vents to blow it out of

   there is the slider which shuts off the vent to the engine bay

   Sounds like some wires under the dash are melting on the heater matrix pipes!!! seen this before with saxo"s

   ntifreeze smells sweet, maybe your matrix is letting go? Seems to be a common problem with saxo's in general. Is your carpet wet?

    well mine was leaking rocker cover/cam ladders on a GTI
    
    the spark plug wells were full with oil
    
    engine heats up, oil burns = car stinks lol

    i had that problem but it was in a punto but it was a leakin rocker cover gaskit oil burnin on exhuast manifold which was causin a stink, also i had a blowin exhaust witch caused a stink aswell but i had smoke commin through the vents aswell, worth a look into mate.
