ecu

has anyone tried fitting an 1.6 106 xsi ecu to a black top vtr? or is it not possible?

fink it would depend wither its a 1 plug or 3 plug ecu and how many plugs your loom has.

if the ecu codes are the same and the ecu is unlocked, or you have the key, black immob box and transponder then it will work.

if any of those are a no it will either fail to start the car or make the car run like a bag of crap.

i was just wondering because the xsi has a higher limiter and i thought seen as both have key pad immobolisers it would just meean plug and play but wasnt sure if they had the same plug style. thank you anyway.

no each ecu has its own immob which locks once the key is removed.

are you sure? because i know for a fact my key hasnt got a chip in it.

i think if the saxo and 106 both use the keypad immobiliser system it should work ok...but i could be wrong.

nope as the ecu is locked to the keypad, if the ecu is from the keypad you need to start the car then unplug the keypad with engine running then stop and then ecu is unlocked, if you remove the ecu from the car then its locked unless you have done the above, same applies to single plug ecu with chip in key, but need to remove black box when engine is running.

sorry but i dont think thats right. as you know i've got a vts engine in my vtr but when i changed the engines over i didnt change the keypads over and the vts is runnging fine with the vtr keypad. so.......?

your missing the poing here mate, if you have a KEYPAD ecu and its LOCKED then you need to unlock it before you use it on another car, if you have a TRANSPONDER type ecu thats locked the same applies, if you have a TRANSPONDER type ECU and a car that has a keypad immob, it will work bypassing the keypad (as the ecu isnt looking to the keypad for the lock code so doesnt use it) as long as the ecu is A)unlocked, or B you have the key and transponder, and black box to go with it.

    make sense now?
