After you have applied an Induction Kit...do you need a breather filter or not?
Breather Pipe

#2legally it should be plumbed back into the inlet, as even with a breather filter its an MOT failure according to the letter and law, however not many MOT places pick this up
-
#3well atm i don't have a breather filter on and my car passed MOT just a few days ago....should i buy a breather filter though? is it needed?
-
#4like I said, legally its an MOT fail if they went by the law and the letter, breather filter will stop oil going all over the engine bay but techincally its illegal but unlikely you will get stopped because of it
-
#5ok cheers

#6As ratty has said legally you need a filter but you should be ok without them. If you are considering buying one be warned some have a tendancy to leek oil.
-
#7mine went straight through the mot and i have got a filter instead of a pipe.
-
#8No as Ratty has said, its an MOT failure to breathe back to the atmosphere regardless of having a filter or not.Quote:Originally Posted by w_jd_wAs ratty has said legally you need a filter but you should be ok without them. #9would you loose any gains by the pipeing going back into the inlet? as mine is on my bmc or is it better putting the breather filter that came with it on instead?

#10have you thought about putting an Oil Catch Tank in? i had this problem, so i put in a make-shift oil catch tank which was basically a pipe from the outlet to a plastic bottle to catch the crap from in the engine, and a breather filter coming off that. (Still not legal tho!)
