use darker mesh in my opinion with your future plans in mind. Besides, it means the bonnet release lever hole wont show up as much on dark mesh just my opinion. I just think the hole you have to leave is more visible on silver mesh...

ahh shit i forgot about that. hmm will he to re-look at my plans on that one lol. Thanks for the idea about darker mesh though. Will consider that as well.

What you think to this exhaust as well? someones selling it cheap and was thinking it might be ok until i have some more cash to spend on one.

yeah use darker mesh looks miles better

exhaust looks nice too. I personally woulnt have anything bigger than a 3"5 pipe, as i've got the same car as you
Twin pipes look nice i reckon.

I wouldn't want people to hear a 1.1's exhaust from down the raod... a nice quiet purr will do. But its your car, depends what sound your after.

I saw a lowered 1.1 with a 4" jap cut peco exhaust and smoked rear lights and it looked really good. That's eventually what I am going to get but was thinking of getting this for now just until i've got 130 quid to spare

Here's my car.... oldish photo and from my avata (i got rid of the brows )

As you can see it does leave a black hole sized gap in the mesh for the bonnet release but most people dont have their heads at bumper height usually, so most of the time you can get away with it.

Bare in mind it can be a totol slag to get the mesh fitted properly without the grille poking out the from of the bonnet.

I thought about getting the smoked headlights, but wasnt too sure because of the contrast, in the end i left it.

I was thinkin of meshin my front grill like this, is it simple to do? And also where can u get the meshn what colour u reckon would look best on a black saxo?

  9. #9
I think most people with a black saxo have gone for black mesh. For the MK2 it's total piss to remove the grille (7 torx screws i think) but getting the mesh on can be a little tricky. Have a look at the Haynes Saxo modding manual

Yea i got the haynes manual comin, looked at my mates one and looked pretty gd. Someone told me you just glue the mesh onto the grille, wot kinda glue wud b best? dnt want da plastic eaten away, im guessin that mite look a bit crappy
  11. #11
i think smoked fogs aswel will look realy good
  12. #12
    Yep liamk15 is right
  13. #13
I bonded my mesh to the grille using TigerPaste (i think), £10 from a decent motor spares dealer. It's a black substance supplied in a tube, and thats all i can remember. Be bloody careful with it tho sticks to anything! i spent a week peeling the stuff from my fingers.

Okidoke ill hav a look around and give it a bash, cheers 4 ya help
  15. #15
I'd love to mesh my grill i really like the look of it.. but it sounds really tricky to get right, and i really wouldn't have been happy with a gaping hole in it for the bonnet catch (no offence to anyone who's done it)

So i've got chrome strips on the standard grill 'til i make my mind up

  16. #16
that's what's putting me off doing it as well. I was thinking maybe leaving a few rings cut so I can bend a flap down in the mesh instead of having the hole there all the time but I dunno whether it'll look good or not
  17. #17
meshing the front grill will always look good, and unfortunately on mk2s the bonnet catch will always be a problem, but no-one will really notice unless they look for it, so i wouldnt worry about it dude.

personally i think you should use silver mesh, but use stuff that is finer and more like a sieve than chicken wire, then your on to a winner

  18. #18
okee dokee i'm gonna go ahead and do it then this weekend. If it looks shit then i'll take the mesh off and use some darker mesh
  19. #19
    Well good luck man anyways.

As addictedtosax said, passer's by and othe motorists are unlikely to see the hole, and probably not even the mesh. But it does help lower the contrast with the silver saxo's.

will look good mate but use black mesh
