SAXO induction, very quiet!

   i have had a few cars in the past, most recently a fiesta.
   
   i had a pipercross induction on the fiesta... and it was really loud induction roar!
   
   i now have a westie, and i put a K&N on there, and was very unimpressed as it was hardly noticeable noise wise, so i purchased a brand new pipercross, and put that on as i know that was loud as fuck on the fezzy, but again, the same problem, really quiet...
   
   i just wanted to know whether that was just a saxo thing, or its something i am doing wrong...
   any help is great, thanks
   
   also, i love pipercross and know a few people that say the same, but i was reading fastcar mag and they recomended an Apiro... but i want a real loud noise!

   basically, its because the build of engines and inlets are different... cars like rovers and mg's are renound from having great induction roars... as for saxos... well unless you got a custom inlet build or mods... induction kits arent massivly loud! ... thats why everyone gets exhaust systems... ha!... well also for performance

   aghh, ok, thats fine dude, just wanted to make sure tat was the same for every1...
   
   the fiesta was so loud people said it was louder than my mates TVR! think they were taking the piss, but it was loud!

   Induction on my Saxo is noticeable with an open air filter. Any pics of how you've fitted it?

   my pipercross was on a 1.0 haha
   
   taken it off now though, felt like it bogged the car down

   lmao yeh my mates 1.1 106 has one that well loud.. but my vtr is quiet... ha

   well thats what i thought, the saxo 1.1, and 106 are the same engine...
   
   but the 1.4 westie and the VTR are the same engine virtually. so they will have the same results... i will upload some pics in a sec

    god i miss the fezzy induction noise... i do have a backbox on and that does make a nice grumble, but i had the induction on 1st and it was silent so thats why i got the exhaust to add some balls to the noise
    
    i dont want to have to swap the sax for a fezzy!! i love it, but... i dunno

    cos its so far into the engine bay- try gettin a pipe to put it out to the grille... more cold air for it to gobble up, and easier to hear???
    
    Just a couple of suggestions.... will never be the loudest of induction noises with our types of engine

    You should put a plug or block that other hole on that tube.

    yer i have 4 apiro oil breathers on there now, that was the only pic i could find though mate. i wouldnt drive it with any hole to be honest, defeats the point in having the "filter"
    
    i was thinking of gettin some chrome piping to get it to the grill, you reck that would work?

    well would certainly help the overall performance of what the filter is there to do... (cold air) so am sure there will be some sort of a difference (however could be only slight) but also would look better in my opinion..

    Yer, its never good. this credit crunch is a mother fucker! all my household bills have gone up, my wage has gone down, so that leaves even less modding money for my car!!
