flushed boot - number plate location?

  1. #1
i'm thinking about getting the boot flushed on my vtr, was just wonderin what the best option for locating the plate is. don't rely want it dangling off the bottom, has anyone ever tried fibreglassing in a number plate reccess off another car (ie mk5 fiesta, pug 106?) any pics or help appreciated

you could get the bodyshop to make you a recess in the valance bit under the rear bumper. make sure you get the lights moved as well though to make sure its legal

i've heard of talk about adding recesses from other cars but don't think i've actually seen one yet

i could just go for somethin like this, this hasn't been done with a reccess but still looks rely tidy

then get those number plate bolts from demon tweeks that double up as number plate lights

you can buy a recess from abs motorsport , they were commonly used on punt0 with flushed boots, you cut a hole out and there is a lip u can rivet or screw it onto orignal bumper then filler the edge and repaint

when i got my boot flushed, i spoke with the garage about getting a recess put in my bumper (the green bit below the actual black bumper bit).

he suggested getting a 306 bumper with the recess already in, and cutting that into mine and smoothing everything over.
would have looked great, pity i couldnt afford it at the time!

for now, its held on with some sticky pads on the green bit as seen in my sig. dont know what i'm gonna do for lighting though come MOT time

306 one might a good idea, the bumper looks a very similar shape to a saxo one

This looks a tidy job, think it might either be a 106 recess smoothed in or the bumper came like that.

Tony, thats a modified saxo bumper, the recess must have been smoothed into it.
