16v Conversion - Immobilisar Query

  1. #1
I have copied this from the 16V conversion help guide:

Immobiliser, just simply start your engine and then pull your immobiliser out from under the fuse box and this unlocks the ECU and lets you use the 16v one which will need unlocking. I recommend Blue Hawk Electronics in Nottingham for unlocking the 16v ECU. Then shut your engine off, and then restart it to see if it’s worked! But if you have an after market immobiliser instead, then I believe this is not necessary, BUT do it anyway!

Can anyone shed any more light on this? I already have an unlocked vts ecu ready so do you just "pull" the old immobiliser out from under the fuse box? Is it that simple?

    Cheers.

Thats a load of rubbish, you dont need to do the first bit of pulling the box out to allow you to use the unlocked 16v ecu.

Just fit the engine, disconnect the box and leave it unplugged (doesnt matter when you do it as long as its before you fit the 16v ecu). Then fit your ecu and off you go.

If it turns out to be locked dont go to bluehawk theyre expensive.. come to me instead

Its 3 plug mate, you cant do them can you?! It's unlocked anyway.. Guy also supplied me with key, fob etc, so if i accidently lock it, he said this will unlock it?!

So I fit the new engine, disconnect the box and then fit the 16v ecu and then reconnect the box??

To unlock it just pull the transponder out once its running from the orig car.

If you plug the transponder back in it locks the ECU to that transponder.

you only have to do it with the engine running to unlock the original ecu, if you're not bothered about this then it doesnt matter.
make sure that immobiliser is unplugged from your car before the unlocked vts ecu is plugged in and dont plug it back in again, just bin it, it'll lock the new ecu

I've found it mate.. one last query..

I am now able to fit my unlocked vts ecu... however, this has come with the box thing that i have just disconnected.. do i need to re-connect this new one? or just not put any black box back??

    thanks..

so youve got the new ecu with the matching immobiliser box, key/chip and pick up thingy? you can replace all of these to have your immobilser back or just leave the immobilser box out completely, this is the lazy option that i took.
also if you have all that i hope you idnt pay to have your ecu unlocked...?

That's correct. I have the 3 Plug ECU (which is already unlocked), the small black box, the key, and another barrel thing..

Think i'll just decide to go for the lazy option as I have a Toad Ai606 fitted anyway..

So basically, I just don't plug back in any small black box? Just fit the new ecu and new engine and it should start..?

And, I bought the ECU unlocked, and he just provided all the bits and pieces just incase i accidently lock it..

    Cheers for your help dude..
