Getting more power

  1. #1
Hi just wondering would there be any way that a could beef up my eastcoast 1.1. .eg more bhp, quick of the mark etc
Or would u suggest putting a bigger engine in it like a 1.4 or a 1.6 vtr engine
Or selling it a buying a vtr? Any suggestions?

Sell it and buy a VTS

Don't bother with engine conversions if its from a 1.1 to a VTR/S, because it will cost too much too upgrade everything.

Sell up and buy a vtr/s

Was thinking about sellin it and buying something bigger but insurance for me would b the killer as im only 18

not everyone can afford to insure a vts .

winky, This your first car? - If so i recommend buying 4 decent tyres, And try to hold your speed round bends. Dont need to be fast off the mark then . And just wait for your 2nd car VTR/S.

You could always shed a few kg's from your car too.

You got a years no claims mate? if not, wait till you do.

And if dont have any weight to lose... then cope with the 1.1 power for a lil longer.

Although i bought a 1.1 saxo for £250, And it got RAPED. And tbh wasn't that slow, Still got my laughs and thrills from it. Sideways at 70mph on stones, That felt fast.

Put a smaller engine in like a 1000cc Yamaha engine!

he was asking if there was any simple mods to get off line quicker, not 3k-10k engine conversions lol.

simple out with old in with new, jobs a gooden happy days.... no im not the fonz!!

if you want a quicker 1.1 you strip it, as light as possible, and increase the fueling and air as much as possible... and add bigger brakes, but it will break quicker.... if you put more stress on the little engine though

all im gunna say is dont get a vts for your first car, i was stupid enough to do it and now my dads tryin to get me to sell it (nae happenin!). insurance is aboslutly bonkers for a 17 y/o on a vts, i was just under £100 a month with collingwood insurance nd the best quote i can get just now is over 5k with endsleigh =|. although somehow i think the mods ive had done has something to do with the quote 8-) (n)

  22. #22
    vts ftw
  23. #23
nah nah, im not steppin down to a R. thinkin of just keepin the S nd doin it up till im older nd just buy sumin cheaper to run till then

try a decent cone air filter only bout £10er for a cheap one off ebay bigger surface area so it gets more air into the manifold quicker!!
  25. #25
honestly wouldn't bother with the 1.1....
i had one as my first car and i thought it was the "fastest thing ever"...
then a lorry went into back of me, wrote it off and i now got a vtr.
    the difference isn't even comparable!
and insurance isn't too bad.... 1 year no claims, 18yo, with an insurance claim declared, fully comp £1200.
keep the 1.1, get a year or so no claims, then sell up and get a proper car
