First VTR - but big plans for her, just need opinions and help

    Just got a saxo in icelandic blue - love it Such a nice car to drive, its just spotless! and the power low down is just... fun, im used to driving motorbikes and had a shit runabout car which had no power, so this is my first ROAD pocket rocket.

    The car at the moment is really standard, and i want to squeeze as much power as i can out of her without TURBO or an S Lump

    I know there are threads, and ive used the search button but nothing is helping.

    so here we go... im not a mechanic so please bear with me, i just get my mechanic doing all the dirty work

    Cams
    I hear people talking about PH3 Cams (kamracing have them on their website) and im wondering why are people saying these are the best cam? and whats the difference between non-RR and roller rocker

    What else would i need if i got the cams? just new pulleys a belt and remap?, what pulleys would be best? and obviously change the cambelt at the same time, and a remap (but ill only remap after all engine breathing mods and exhaust/mani are done.

    Exhaust/manifold

    So there are a few variants of options, 4-2-1 and 4-1 im bassicly looking for a little more power in the midrange of the gears, which one suits best?

    Also, throttle bodies.... anyone fitted these to a VTR? and does it make much of a difference?


    IS there anything else that i could do to it to squeeze more power out of it? im not wanting to spend big ammounts of money, about 2k or less

    For 2k, apex suspension, raceland 4-2-1 or 4-1, and a super sprint race exhaust (£650 delivered from Kam, jsut bout all that myself) Then with with 1.3 large left, I'd get a decent induction kit and a medium cam, vernier and an ecu (dastek is nice and cheap)or some other some kind and could maybe get a set of bike tb's and inlet, but would have to do some real bargain hunting to get it all in the budget.

    if you want to spend 2k i would not blow it all on engine as not really much you can do with a vtr cam remap and 4-2-1 start there then allarm as you dont want it goinging bye bye. but for 2 k personaly id of bought the vts one. any way have fun driving it
