Important! : FAKE Rallye steels - how to tell the difference

  1. #1
I dont know how many people have come across this yet, but ive now heard of a few rip off's and mis-sales

    Similarities

To the naked eye and a quick look the 'mould' of the Rallye steel is actually identical (or near as dammit) as a bog standard VTR spare wheel.

How to tell the difference between them both

Rallye steels came in WHITE as standard

If someone claims that theyre refurbed and repainted a different colour then fair enough, but you can still tell a genuine set

A GENUINE Ralle steel will actually have the word 'Michelin' stamped into the metal itself and is usually visible near the valve cap

The standard VTR steel does not have this stamped on

    .................................................. .......................

If anyone has come across or knows of any other differences between the 2 please feel free to add them (eg weight difference)

    Please do your research

A spare vtr steelie i messed with was a michelin one. That was an early one though.

I'm pretty sure the diamond holes are all michelin wheels and the vtr ones are 5.5" wide iirc so same as S1 steelies. They will still be just as light and just as flimsy.
