Vtr / vts

I'm looking at either a VTR or VTS, S will cost £700 more on insurance for me.

If i bought a R and spent £700 on it, would it be faster than an S?

Just wondering which one to go for, obviously VTS is better and most people will say VTS but im leaning towards the R at the moment due to insurance, plus I heard the R benfit more from breathing mods?

    Thanks

Buy a R and stick an S lump init, only real way you going to achieve 120bhp out a R for £700.

quick answer no 700 will not make a r faster than a s but if your young and have no claims bonus the r will be alot cheaper

700 quid on a vtr wont really get it near a vts unless you buy some very select things and then tbh you will ind it more expensive to run (and less user freindly) than a standard vts
youd be looking at breathing mods a vts (or shorter) gearbox and maybe if theres enough left cams

and tbh then your over a grand normally
plus add them mods to the vtr insureance and it will be a lot more than a vts

Still gona bump your insurance up tho, or void it in a crash if u dont tell

have an engine conversion drop in a VTS should fit easily in a VTR

    Buy the S.

So if i threw the £700 I will save on insurance at a VTR and it still wouldn't be as good as an S, I may as well go for the S.

Going from 3 Cylinder 993cc Corsa to a VTS, think I will notice much? Lol

To give you a weighted argument I would go for VTR myself, they are quick enough (for me but that's just my opinion). Depends what you want really. Of course VTS is MUCH quicker and more fun but therefor easier to crash especially if you are a newish driver for example, more expensive insurance and slightly less MPG. Hard decision for you really mate!!

i'd go for an S personally ive not long bought a mk1 vts myself and fairly notice the difference between the vtr and s but as was said above depends what you want to get it for...

the vts is faster, but the vtr handles and looks just as good,
vtrs are just as fun to drive all be it with a little less poke,
and the vts has abs which is nice in slippy conditions.

depends what you want, vts is faster but you have to work at it keeping the revs high to get the ebenfits.
vtr should be more than enough for you coming from a 1.0 corsa and bh its more than capable really.
my conclusion is buy a vtr and enjoy that for now and save your £700 for next year when you have a years extra no claims then spend your money dropping a vts engine in
