exhaust setup help

   hello, i have a 98bhp mk2 vtr with the cat in the manifold.
   im wanting a 4-2-1 manifold, which will then get rid of the cat.
   what cat can i use between the manifold and center pipe (what car do i need one off ect)
   also with the back box and pipe, does cat back pipe go to the cat and a normal pipe go to the manifold? if that make sense.
   im trying to get a good understanding before i do anything.
   so i think i need a 4-2-1 manifold, a cat of somesort, back box and cat back pipe. i want the cat so it can be decatted then put on for mots

   basicly i wanting to know what the best set up is i need. and as my cat is in the manifold what do i do about it?

   What you want is:
   
   - 4-2-1 manifold
   - Cat-back system with a decat pipe
   
   - Then for MOT purposes you will need to buy a cat that sit under the car, which will replace the decat pipe, scrapped VTS cat should do (just remember you may need a VTS decat and cat-back system for that to work).
   
   Peronally if it was me i would have a Supersprint set-up, 4-2-1, then full race system (straight through centre pipe so instant de-cat ), then for MOT time i would have a VTS system and just bolt that on to the manifold, as you have the cat and everything attached.

   after spending all the money on doing that wouldnt it be worth just buying the sports cat manifold

   The VTS system wouldn't be expensive becuase you would just pick it up from your local scrappie, and if you were on a budget, you could get a Raceland 4-2-1 and Supersprint race section for around £350 from Kam Racing, if you factor is some more money for the VTS exhaust then it will probably work out similar to a sports cat manifold.
