Kents Cams OR Peugeot Sport Cams

what cams would be better? on the kent cams website it says for the vts engine kents cams give a 22bhp gain was wondering what kind of increase the peugeot sport cams would give and which ones are better for performance?
  2. #2
    To be honest.......

That is a very hard question to answer as it was also alter lots of other things about the car, i,e where the power band is etc.

But also you cant just stick a set of cams in on those particular ones you mention i amsure you will ned decent breathing mod to compliment it first and the possibility of solid lifter also.

But other manufacturers of cams are piper or Cat cams these are both very good cams also.

well with the cams there would also be manifold, performance exhuast and remap, just i havent heard alot about peugeot sport cams

is that price for both do you think? also what else would i need with these? pulley?
    Thanks
  10. #10
dont need the pulleys as vts has verniers as std, thats a price for both. Depending on mileage id look to get your hydraulic tappets changed (costs about £160 more but if one fails later due to the cam you will have to take them out and redo the timing again to replace them)

also look at the cat cams 708 as it is a good cam.

    cam meaning 2 btw lol
  12. #12
also how much would i be looking at to get these put in at a garage?
  13. #13
    150-200 at a guess.
  14. #14
Ratty as you seem to be a fountain of knowledge with regard to cams.

Can you supply me with details of the piper 285 as you have done above for the kent pt50?

    Cheers

U dont need to change ur tappets untill at least 60k or there abouts when thats concerned, is that right Ratty?
  16. #16
you replace them when they break but if you have over 60k then its advisable, dan ill find out for you when i have a little more time!
  17. #17
tappets go at around 72k on a saxo

do they arse. I seem to remember saying that before. I havent actually heard of anyones "tappets" breaking even less so at 72k miles as a common occurence
  21. #21
you dont need to replace them on if the cars standard, its not part of any of the service intervals. Its just common sense if your putting a different cam in. Like doing a service and putting old oil in.
