tend to get what you pay for. lots of performance pads for you out there.

for now id just go for a cheap standad pad till you decide its a track based car. no point in wasting money on some pads that only come alive after a few hot laps on the road.

when you want to get a bit more serious or your standard pads are failing you then change.

i use omp road and track pads £69. ive used sets them for 3 years now. my calipers are the 306 266mm lucas type. very happy with these. used with a quality disc ive never had problem with fade or bite!

i dont use braided lines (i know you didnt mention them) nor special brake MC (standard vts abs MC). also helps to have the brake bias valve set up how you want it.

    cheers

    back to the original question....

yes as a road pad good quality.

it will fade after a few hard brakes from 80-100 on a track tho. nothing more frustrating than brake fade when your having fun

Seems a good price compared to alot of others! I know not a performance pad but will do for time being! What would you recommend for upgraded ones? Will those ebc pads eat my discs or be ok?
  15. #15
omp for track. those above will be fine. its the full on race pads that hurt discs. cheap discs wont last 5 minutes with a harsh pad on a track!

so you enjoy skimping on the things that save your life?

no brakes = crash + possible death

its like when people spend £££ on suspension because they want maximum grip. only theyre using cheap nasty tyres in the 1st place

Ive got some drilled and grooved discs with them too but not sure on make, but only paid £40 for the lot from scrappy! What discs would be good to as so i know for future reference.
  19. #19
anything above standard mate. for track dont get drilled discs. slotted if you must (by choice)

You have to make sure you are getting the right pad aswell. GTI-6 Callipers use 2 different pads depending on the caliper. 1st you need to find out if yours is Bosch or Lucas..

Thats what i got for mine. You cant pay £15 on pads, and expect them to be good..
  21. #21
They are lucas ones! So what would be best, mintex?
  22. #22
What would be better the mnitex or ferodo? Also are the group n discs front kam any good as are a good price for £48?
  23. #23
How long would a good set of pads last do you think?
  24. #24
    That's a lot of questions.
How long is a piece of string? Probably about as long as those pads will last if you don't drive the car. And possibly as long as the pads will last if you drive flat out for 10,000 miles on track.

As for what to buy, mintex M1144s are good VFM for road and occasional track in those brakes.
