quick question

    i am going to rebuild my engine next week, consisting of rings, oil pump, stem seals etc.

    is it possible to replace the rings whilst keeping the gearbox block and crank still in place in the car to save time?

    yes, simplictically - head off, sump off, rods and pistons out, replace rings

    i forgot to ask do you take the pistons out towards the bottom or upwards? and what way do you put them in or doesnt it matter?

    thake them out of top they wont come out the bottem with crank still in and just soak em in a oily rag

    soak the pistons in a oily rag?

    it this to stop corrosion?

    yes keeps the rods ok and no rust ect . word of advice to when you put your new shells in make sure ever thing is spotless no debree from out m8 i had that prob once before if ya got a air line to blow the crank holes and big ends to be on safe side good look
