Information on Gearbox and Flywheel needed Please...

Havent posted on here for a while due to working alot, but my car is coming off the road soon to undergo a few changes.
Before i start i need some info.

Im after a 1.4xsi box, which would be ideal - but due to been unable to find one im findng myself to look at a 1.3 rallye gearbox, would this be to short for my car as its running 708 catcams??
    Also..
What would i do about getting a lightened and balanced flywheel, do i buy one or get mine lightened?...

    Cheers josh

the S1 is short - with a lightened flywheel would be awesome!! Not fun on long journeys at 70+

With cams the majority of the power is at high revs, so the quicker you get up there then generally the quicker you'll accelerate!

as rauchz said, also its much much cheaper to have your o/e fly lightened or you can buy an ali one for £300ish
i personally would get a 1.4xsi box just to calm road use

Ok cheers, can you point me in the right direction to getting my flywheel lightened please....Ive decided to see how it goes with my gearbox atm as i have a 1.6 s2 rallye.
If i want to accelerate faster lol i will move to an xsi box.
I think the box is ideal with my cams atm but i just want to accelerate a tad harder

    phone qep (quality engineering products)

They will lighten your flywheel, and have a good reputation.

    yes

Or could just use a sports box with a FD that suits your driving - IMO I wouldn't play with the ratios, if you were I'd go for S1 with a longer 5th

Because the MA gearset isnt easy to interchange like BE boxes for example.

Plus theres mostly the same cluster with just different FDs, budget was kept tight with MAs
