GT25 & GT28 will fit and both are very popular on the smaller engines. The 28 makes big power on the ones ive seen on TU's. Might need an adapter though.

    All the numbers are relevent;

    http://www.turbomaster.info/eng/turb...fy_garrett.php

    http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbob...gt_basics.html

The very important ones are the wheel sizes, which determine how much lag you get and how much boost you get. A balance would be the 25, and i bet the 28 will be a right handful to try and keep on boost on track.

    is the wheel size
    A/R .53
i take it the smaller the numbers the faster it will spool up lower in the rev range or am i wrong

here is the set up tell me if it will work
    vts engine
    vtr gear box
    cituning manifold and down pipe
    gmc 1.9 head gasket
    gmc low comp pistons

bought all ready the pistons and intercooler and oil cooler pluss the reclotion kits

turbo not sure thats what i need to find out but defo needs to fit the manifold and downpipe i got

not sure about what boost to run or about extra fueling and ecu yet
just doing it bit by bit and trying to learn ......thanks for any help provided

for fueling you can use either a 5th injector & a mf2. (the cheapish way lol)

or you can get standalone management and uprate all of the cars standard injectors. (the best way, but expensive as you will be paying about £80 per injector and iirc £500 for management)

“T” or “GT” in garrett turbo refers to the generation. “T” turbos first dates back to the mid 50s the first of being the “T15”. Garretts “GT” range of turbos are there next generation and are a great improvement over the original units.

The number after the letter for example the “15” from “T15” refers to the turbos basic format. A very common misconception is that this relates to the size of turbo yet this is not true. For example a Metro ~90bhp turbo uses a tiny “T3” turbo yet the 200+bhp for escort cosworth also uses a “T3” just a much bigger unit.

“wheel size” refuser to the actual physical size for the blades used in the turbo. This can be used for both compressor and turbine sides.

“Trim” is used on bothe compressor and turbine and is difference from the blades out diameter at the biggest compared to the smallest point. 100 being both are the same and 0 being where one is infinitely small.

“A/R” is the ratio between the turbine inlet and the turbine housing. A smaller “A/R” makes for a smaller turbine housing and a lager will make for a larger housing.

“flow map” this is simply what the turbo can do and how well it can do it. You use this to work out what turbo is suitable for what application. A common mistake is people think you can take a turbo off any old 200bhp engine and it will work fine on any other 200bhp, this could not be further from the truth. At the very least you have to take in to consideration the engines basic efficiency and the required amount of flow and pressure that is required.

I don't really know what power you are after but from your spec I would be looking at a GT possibly a mid size GT25 like a 50 or 60 R. But it really does depend on how much power your after. However I think there the wrong format to fit your manifold but there are adapters available or you could modify you manifold to fit it.

Dont they list on there site they use a hybrid turbo so the spec of the turbo has been tweaked for them (cituning) or do they just buy off the shelf GT17's...

You want to get a few pics of how the turbo mounts to the manifold & downpipe so people can see what the bolt layout etc is, from this people could offer other options possibly...

been looking around found this one not sure what all the specs are for it yet but there new and of saab 9-3/9-5 Petrol

    Mmmm boost
  16. #16
Ah there quite a odd shape turbo. If that's the sort of turbo it takes perhaps a GT25 from a RS Focus turbo will do.

  17. #17
cool thanks again....so gt25 are on rs focus with the same bolt lay out good now got an idea what to look for now ......thank you

No there not. The original RS focus has a very odd turbo on most GT25 are totally different. Manufactures often specify quite unusual specs for there turbos.

If I had known you were after one you could have had the one in the photo for £100 but its already sold. It was brand new as well. There are plenty of Focus RS ones out there as people tend to fit larger units when tuning these cars.

This turbo is not what you think it is. Its not actually a Garrett turbo at all. Its a cheap knock off. You should avoid these. You really do get what you pay for with turbos. Though the photo is quite good at illustrating the different shapes turbos can be. See how the exhaust port is not round and has 5 bolts and not 3. This turbo is not interchangeable with the Saab or Ford unit.

write ok thanks again im very glad im talking to someone who knows there stuff this is been very helpfull and you have just pointed out the fake garrett. ill just keep looking for the ford rs focus ones ta
